You make good points Dwolf - the zone of control mechanic (basically a retreat cost) and the charge idea would both do the trick too. The reason I suggested just increasing the move for some of the big guys is because the devs could implement it easily - although a reckless charge ability or flying ability would be cool to see in the game. Drakes should definitely be able to fly I think. In short, I don't mind how they go about it but these monsters need to be quicker on their toe

Interesting suggestions Dwolf, although I would prefer them to incentivise the other strategies rather than introducing ego penalties - bands of heroes are a fantasy staple after all. A big reason why I was able to level up the champ and channeler so fast was because they were going round the map as a duo so they didnt need to share the earned experience with any other units. Just a short post, I think another thing the devs should do is increase the tactical move speed for the strong and deadly monsters as their slow speed is easy to exploit and it allows weak low level champions to giant kill these monsters and claim big xp and item drops, which consequently makes it easier to giant kill the next big monster and level up much faster than the AI champs. I have just completed a game with Ceresa and the Wraiths and spellcasters can become extremely powerful once they have have a few levels and supporting equipment. As someone mentioned above, once you have path of the mage, affinity and mantle of the oceans then all tactical spells become free.
