Would it be possible to take the FE engine and make a tactical/strategic RPG dungeon crawler like Warhammer Quest/Heroquest/Descent? That would be potentially awesome I think and it also would fill a void in the PC game market.

Hi Brad your post got me thinking about board games with solid game mechanics and I was wondering if Stardock would ever be open to colaborations with some of the premier board games companies - Fantasy Flight Games is one that immediately springs to mind as they do some pretty epic stuff such as Arkham Horror and Twilight Imperium which would be awesome if ported to PC. Other cool games that could also be ported as mobile apps would be something like Pandemic (I've forgot the publisher).
Is anyone working on a balance mod for champ traits, spells, and faction traits? I've been taking a break from FE until some of these things are ironed out. Just curious if anyone is on the case.
Joeball, I agree with you - 2 schools is fine as you want to have points to spend on other stuff when creating a sov. Also, it gives more focus when you level up - no pot luck on which spellbook to upgrade
The sovereign traits feel totally unbalanced to me too - things like veteran are lame and things like wealthy are awesome - I hope Derek has another look at the traits and does some rebalancing here
Outposts (starbases) gave flat bonuses in Galciv2, which allowed you to min max weak units in the outpost AoE. I think that regardless of the chosen mechanics, a player will find a way to stretch it as much as possible. The game does have ways to deal with stacks of doom, it's just unfortunate that the AI doesnt use them.
I'm pretty sure juggernaut backswing vs counterattack is bugged too - if you dodge their first attack and kill them with the counterattack, you take damage from their backswing anyway - fecking juggers
Hi Stardock, I've encountered an issue in my last game where the game's mouse icon turns into an eggtimer and won't let me click on any buttons like end turn - basically locking up the game. This happened after I cast dispel enchantment on a cursed city and then clicked to end the turn.
Yeah master scouts is good but I wouldn't consider it OP or broken - the other traits should be boosted so that they are on par IMO
I think dirge should be cheaper and also apply wither and mass curse - i.e. it should be a triple whammy of effects. This would make it good without one shotting armies, which is what was drawing the complaints. Horrific wail is a far better spell at the moment and it doesn't even rely on multiple death shards, just champ levels - I think it's inevitable that the devs will hit it with the nerf hammer as it does all the things that the old dirge did.
Is finesse working properly now? If it is then a lightly armoured unit of rogues with daggers and finesse is cheap and effective in the early game, especially if combined with a champ that has the tactics perk
I don't think anyone will gripe about master scouts - it's stealth that's seen as the cheesy one. But whatever man, choose whatever perks you want.
@Trojasmic Just cast horrific wail instead :) It's now better than dirge of Ceresa
The game has never been balanced IMO - the faction perks, sovereign perks, and spells have been all over the place. People did highlight these things in the beta process but unfortunately they're still around. I think it's going to take someone modding the changes before things are set right, Derek and Brad are making tweaks here and there but I think more is needed. As for AI difficulty I find expert is the best level to play on because on this setting you see much better per
This is all very interesting - I thought challenging was supposed to be a level playing field but this clearly isn't the case. Great stuff here Tuidjy I wonder if anyone knows exactly what bonuses/handicaps the AI gets on different settings. In the Civ games it's possible to look up exactly what these stats are - are there any details on this for FE?
Sean, what difficulty setting is this? On the higher settings the AI sends bigger forces and normally mixes the forces too. At a glance, I'd say this was Challenging setting
Hi Chaosti, are you playing against the Trogs, those guys are absolutely insane on ridiculous setting - I'm 90 turns into a game and those jerks have a power rating well beyond 1300. The next game I play on this setting will not include them because i seriously think they are bugged. They always pull far ahead of the other factions (the other AI faction I saw was Magnar with a score around 270). @ Tuidjy I don't know how you beat ridiculous with a standard faction, it
The best setting for world difficulty is 'challenging' - on this setting the monsters are supposed to attack you and the AI equally whereas on the harder settings they will ignore the AI and attack you. This isnt explained ingame but Brad mentioned it here on the forum
It's turn 60 on the last ridiculous game I've played - I'm hemmed in between Yithril and Kraxis and I've just conceded the game after Yithril attacked me with an epic army that includes 9 units and 2 juggernauts plus another army with a further 2 juggernauts. The third faction is Altar and they have just discovered higher education. I think they must get some crazy high bonuses on this setting - Yithril are particularly annoying
Cheers Heavenfall, much appreciated. I have found art assets for the items and will work on designing and inputting some mage gear. I was pleased to find out that the devs have created some more mage items but I think there's scope for more
I find expert to be OK, it's still very winnable but I share your sentiments for ridiculous+ - the cheating on that level is quite staggering. The last ridiculous game I played, I had to face down 4 juggernauts (with 1000+ hps combined) with basic spearmen and leather armour - unsurprisingly I lost that game. If you go to the foreign relations page you will see that the AI starts with astronomical resources to give it a leg up.
When dragons use their breathe fire ability it actually damages them too - I've seen this happen twice now in the released game
Hi guys I'm wondering if anyone could explain to me how to create new equipment for champs (mainly thinking about mage gear here) and how to edit/add spells. I was hoping the workshop would provide tools to do this but I can see it's not going to be so straightforward. I've never modded anything before but am willing to give it a go so I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction
I'm not sure what to make of all this spell nerfing - I'm sensing a drift towards WoM where spells were pretty weak and didn't scale well. Damage spells are already weak on the higher difficulty settings and these changes will make them pretty much irrelevant
@Viking I understand it's value from a gameplay perspective - you don't need to be such a sarcastic anal retentive about it. I just think the shop mechanics could've been implemented in a different way - it's more of a leftover from WoM really. I think the shop is fine for now but I hope they do something about it in an expansion at some point. What they could've done was distinguish between a sovereign's personal funds (fo
