First two...? Suddenly i'm glad i pre-ordered Elemental last year o.O. It was pure impulse (no, not the program). If i had not pre-ordered, i probably wouldn't have bought the game until it was released... and considering the launch, i probably would've skipped it.

My take on the art direction: Good. More color, the better (of course there's a limit). Nowadays too many games don't use color. Everything needs to be flat, drab, gray and boring. Halo is one of those rare series that use color effectively. I admit that the "fan reaction" image looks pretty cool BUT i'd get bored with that sort of look quickly. Probably. I don't think a dark atmosphere needs dark colors. Vibrant looks can... will create contrast with other stuff, poss
I have suggested this myself. In Romance of the Three kingdoms, when a ruler dies, there is a meeting between the heirs, advisors, and generals about who should take over the leadership. Sometimes they all agree and a new heir is named, some times, their is conflict and the nation breaks up into warring factions. I would love that for this game.
Love the idea. I would really like to have my nation to splinter if i
Okay... single use items that vanish after use, check. Can these be cast on enemies? Do these have any cool spell effects? Still need to play more Elemental. And find time to do so (or cut back playing Reach). Damaging item ain't that hard to do, right? I just add - in front of the value (or something i guess, need to read the modding guides more carefully too).
I have this one mod idea that would largely depend on single-use spellcasting scrolls. Is it possible to make such in Elemental? Tutorials and guides show that items with special abilities are possible i wonder whether items that vanish after one use are. If those are not, then what about scrolls (not equipment naturally) that can be only used once per battle (and would still cast a certain spell)? Or maybe ones with long cooldown. Oh and if there are multiple items with same ability
Great campaign, great game overall. I was close to start learning how to make maps and modding it in general, then i noticed that Blizz screens all the mods and "copyrighted content" was among the stuff that is denied. I assumed that this applies to other franchise total conversions (ultimate goal) and decided that i'll wait until i know for sure. Which may take months at least, years probably. Yeah. Without knowledge whether the ultimate goal is possible, i don't even care to learn how-to in
The stunt was a stupid lie and very, very poor taste. First thing i did after reading about the "closure" was to check if i had whether is still had FO/FO2 installers (and the others, which i still had) on my harddrive. Of course i didn't have them. I almost pirated them but the promise that you can download them in Thursday kept me from doing that. Next they tell, it was joke (or something) and open up to just to reveal some f*****g stupid FB integration and new UI. YOU HAD TO F*****
Some more or less random thoughts: I still don't know what the say about SC2 (note that i'm mainly a single player when it comes to Starcraft and haven't even touched ladders yet, if you don't count the beta). ... Maybe if i tell that i can't wait for the expansions sums up what i think pretty well? Ain't regretting that i bought the Collector Edition nor that i played the game through right away, took some 13-15h. The story is quite gripping. It has its weak m
Mass Effect 2 though, is significantly different than the first ME, and as such, deserves derision. Why did Bioware throw out the awesome game play of the original just to make it a proper shooter? All that was unique about the title was tossed out in the name of selling more copies.
... What? Awesome gameplay? At first i liked it. But pretty soon i realised how ME1 worked: You take AR, put best mods to
My list of what is important. 1st is gameplay 2nd is techically good graphics, no stuttering, graphics bugs, etc. 3rd is the eye candy, it doesn't matter much if the game itself rocks. Let's take Morrowind for example. Of course when it was first released it was among the best, but since there's no point in judging in yesterday's standards, it's rather... well, from outdated to ugly, depending whom you ask, nowadays. Though good enough for me, besides, the over
I tested it two times against AI. First time i died when some random golem suddenly killed my sovereign. Second time, the same thing happened. Haven't touched the game since... what the hell i'm supposed to do? I mean, don't i need fertile land or such for farms? Sure i can build a city on that frigging wasteland but... Also, performance troubles, if they can be called that (also something to note: some options aren't fully shown on main menu, Fog of War brightness for example
Considering what shitpile GFWL was... this is an improvement. Of course one can wonder why there must be some idiotic dependency on first place. Oh well, learning lesson from FO3, i'm going to buy FONV for 360 (hardware a bit too weak, gamebreaking OFFICIAL patches, existence of mods... When it comes to Morrowind, Oblivion and FO3, i spend 99% of time choosing and installing and troubleshooting mods. I never manage to make the game "perfect". On consoles, i have no problems what so ev
Thank you for this nice map. I'll be sure to steal interesting geographical features for my PnP RPG campaign. Which reminds me, i'm going to make a map of it in Elemental. And... maybe i'll make a mod based on it too. Maybe. Depends if modding Elemental is easy enough. Plus on bunch of other stuff. I really like the map. It is interesting. I love maps. Pre-post EDIT. The frigging forum decided my log in was old enough and logged me out, when i pressed submit. [sarcasm]
I tried the CivRev demo for a few minutes and decided remove the crap. Later, when checking more details of the game mechanics and changes from previous Civs, i decided i had done well when i removed the demo right away.
CIV5 and Elemental would probably work just fine on consoles. Adjusting controls and UI for a TBS for a console version is probably easier than for a RTS. Shame that consoles never get TBSes with hotseat mode...
Hmm, what did the limited edition offer? IIRC, nothing that interests me. I'd rather buy Civ5 too, since i already have Steam for Crysis (and Portal (free)) so i have no issues with using it. Not caring about Steam running on backround and performance impacts.. i have FF almost always on backround for quick hint and guide searching while playing and FF uses like 150-300MB memory...
... Epic? What games did they make? Unreals? Whatever. Personally i don't play microtranscation games. I do buy some DLC (on 360) but otherwise i'm not going to pay for small stuff on PC. Mods usually do same as microtransaction DLC and better. I don't see Facebook as the future of PC gaming either... though for some reason, everyone insist on having it (and Twitter) integrated every where. (For example, SC2 will have Facebook integration.. but no chat channels, LAN, and bunch
Hmph. Lack of monthly fee can be seen as lag, eh? WoW never has more than 200ms latency (not counting rare lag spikes), usually around 100-150ms for me. Can't be an issue on my end, since, other than SC2 which lags constantly, i have no lag problems. Gotta check the UI tab more carefully. I've noticed that your mental and physical state can affect your judgement a lot. I complained a few days ago about SC2, but now i don't have those issues. When i wrote the first impressions earlier,
What's wrong with that scythe? Scythes ain't weapons really but don't see anything wrong with that one. But that bow... impractical. I prefer realistic looks over anything else (of course i've given up on this, since most good stuff look over-done. Not an issue though) I'll check out the trial today if i have time. ... Wait, you can color your armor? Woot! Definetly testing the game ASAP. Never understood why Blizzard can't implement armor coloring. They talk about diversity a
True, GW doesn't have monthly fee so if i find it for cheap, definetly picking it up. But otherwise...? Building a character? Bah. Gear? Bah. Neither does really motivate me. WoW was a gear grind, but i don't like giving gear more or less freely to anyone. I like exploring things, fighting cool battles (generally that means dungeon bosses) and being rewarded with something that feels unique. Or is a novelty. As long as it ain't something everyone holds and must not look like somethin
I'm a WoW player. Well, more or less former now. I'll see whether Cata can pull me back but doubt it (though i'd love to experience Azeroth again). Been looking for another MMO. EVE has some elements that interest me but overall, not enough stuff there. DDO is free but can't manage to gather enough willpower to chomp through tutorial section. Guild Wars started to interest after listening to the music (which is done by Jeremy Soule, KOTOR and The Elder Scrolls music composer). What di
Interesting coincidence is release of a standalone and free game Prometheus on Impulse (also first-person puzzle game) that took place only a few days ago.
*Scrambles to Impulse catalog* Oh, right. Doesn't actually seem that interesting. It's actually more likely that Portal is free due Portal 2 coming later... this year? I don't know, i don't actually follow anything Valve-related. And after a
By the way, I understood the offer as "Play for free until 24th May, buy then if you liked to continue playing". Anyone else? Of course 10 days is more than enough to finish the game, and since i've already played it once on 360, it doens't really hold much replay value for me.
It seems that Valve has made Portal free on Steam. Until May 24th. Also on Macs. The site's barely up and Steam itself doesn't seem to be able to connect to servers. Too busy o.O
The community features are sufficient for gamers though not a replacement for Facebook.
Why do people always assume one should/must/is use(ing) Facebook? I don't give a shit about community features, no matter what the game or software. As long as you can use text chat in the multiplayer, and preferrably in the lobby, that's enough for me at least. Why should the features even be a replacement for Facebook or compete with it? I don't understand, i don't un
