Eh, nice. I won't say no to free stuff. And that said, i really need to get a game or two done in FE, still haven't managed that... I do wonder, will dynasty system come back? If nothing else, as something that modders can enable and tweak, with AI recognizing it or being moddable to understand it...
There is some horizontal tearing when getting max fps 60. Note: The horizontal tearing can be fixed by forcing vertical sync on through the nVidia config (although this does cause a slight decrease in performance (more choppy when scrolling), but is still overal better).
This issue is in the normal 1.00. And forcing V-sync didn't fix it for me. Triple buffering reduced tearing but again,
I really hope the feature will be made working (even if it isn't enabled) or moddable so that modders can get it working properly... i'd love to see it in mods. Awesome feature.
Very nice manual. Too bad i cannot print it (printer broken) (and for printing i'd prefer text (and example images only version). Definetly need to read it more carefully before actually playing. I didn't really play the beta so i don't really know how to play. Or more specifically, details about stuff. Partially because the beta didn't have a manual.
I had no problem downloading the file, but opening it. Added it to expection lists for MSE and ZoneAlarm, closed ForceField process from ZoneAlarm and it worked just fine. Also, the file should be 3.5GB or so, not 10+. Did you remove the beta installation (if you had one) and the folder from My Games?
Well, my issue still exists. The file does not open. Apparently this time neither MSE nor ZoneAlarm were problems, since it is on both exception lists and nothing is happening. I double clicked the exe, nothing happens but the computer runs very, very slow. And i cannot close the process via taskmanager either. EDIT actually, it was about ZoneAlarm. Closed some related process and the file finally opened. Odd.
Make sure your Firewall is not blocking it too, i have ZoneAlarm but it prevents the installer from running unless i add the file manually to expection list. Happened with Beta too. But as Sean says, you most likely need to redownload the thing. EDIT right... it seems the file refuses to open still. Wonder what's the issue now... EDIT2 sorry 'bout kinda hijacking the thread, since i don't have the exact same issue. EDIT
I can understand why you don't want lowering terrain to create water/island issues. But I would prefer to see lower terrain turn plains terrain into swampland. That way I can create a land bridge, then convert it over to swamps to slow down any wouldbe pursuers.
I love this idea. Very interesting.
Physical plane of existence. The world is split into several planes in the lore. You can have the jungle or the dying fire or the sea plane, but you can't transport through planes like you could in the book. So each game the player plays must be focused on only one of the planes. But you can mod the game to very realistically mimic any given plane. The air plane could even be mimicked by replacing the water textures. That would be cool. <br
All kidding aside, you could make a pretty cool WoT mod, but each game would have to take place in only one plane. Oddly enough, the books are descriptive enough to allow for some very interesting strategic gameplay. I am pretty sure the magic could be done reasonably well too. But what tangent would you base the game off of?
Plane? You mean place? The magic certainly won't be an issue. The way magic is used in the
Just how moddable is FE? Can i create new resources and systems?
I will learn all of this and make a Wheel of Time mod. Well, I'd like to.
Always thought the Elemental's base would suit a Wheel of Time mod. FE doesn't seem to be require extensive (mostly modifying XMLs seems to be enough, some custom models, maybe custom city models) modification to turn it into a WoT game. I have m
Very intersting post. I think i may want to be a game designer so it is always intersting to read about the process itself. Makes me wonder if i'd be a content designer or system designer. On one hand, i have a lot of world building ideas. I have tens of pages of notes (just notes, i need to expand them to proper text, in which case i may have hundred or more pages text), locations, plot ideas, spells, weapons, events, history, monsters, all sorts of stuff.
Ok, i'll try that soon. Will post back results. EDIT PERFECT, Thank you guys, the game runs very well now, 60FPS with shadows and outlines, 1600x900. Guess i could turn on AA even.
Sure, i'll do that. I'll update the OP right away and note what seems to be the actual issue. I've sent email but i have no idea how soon i'll receive an answer. And for some reason i feel i'll get additional questions before answers.
Are you sure your GPU isn't working for just this game? Can you start up another game and play just fine? My real question is your graphics gard situation though. Do you have Nvidia Optimus? It's possible then that Elemental just isn't triggering your dedicated card to activate, which would be a game problem. I have ATI switchable graphics, so I just enable them when I play games.
No, i don&#
Sent the email, hope i included everything necessary.
Reverted my changes, the game runs now again. It doesn't seem to be recognizing my GT630M.
That seems to be alot of people's problem. I know there was someone on the forums here who fixed it, but I can't remember who. Probably ought to send an e-mail to stardock and get a formal ticket started. They always know how to do that stuff.
Guess i'll have to do that. EDIT not sure where to exactly i should send
I disabled the HD3000 via Windows settings. Let's try now what happens... EDIT well now it ain't even starting up.
Okay, it seems i may have found the reason for my issue. According to my debug.err, the game is running on Intel HD3000 instead of using GT630M . If true.. what can i do?
@ozo, when I asked texture settings I meant your game settings in graphics, similar to shaders etc. not the map. There should be options for high, medium and low resolution textures.
What? I've never seen such an option in EWOM or EFE. Someone needs to highlight it for me if there's such. Also, i check the driver updates via Nvidia's site, i'l check for updates soon since it's been almost two wee
Dude, Starcraft 2 is a 2010 game with NOTHING like the complexity or depth of FE, which is multi-threaded. Just think of the fact that while Starcraft units are, in effect, single sprites, in FE every unit is generated in 3d depending on the equipment and armor you give them There is absolutely NO comparison....
So, is my bottleneck CPU then? Still doesn't explain why my far worse old laptop could run
The GPU is incredibly low-end, I doubt you'll ever get any satisfactory performance out of Fallen Enchantress.
I can play Starcraft 2 on Ultra settings with 30+ FPS in moderate battles, assuming no water or lava around. Are you claiming FE somehow requires far more from GPU than SC2? EDIT also, Notebookcheck classes GT630M as relatively fast middle-class GPU for laptops. <a href="http://w
What texture settings? The texture atlas i set to 1024x1024, i think, but it affects only the UI, no? Anyway, didn't see any difference in performance. No custom Nvidia settings, don't dare to play with those. Also, just noticed that tactical battles work well, 30-40FPS no problem. So my problem is somehow limited to normal view only. EDIT just started a normal game. I get slightly better FPS there than in the tutorial, i assume it has something
UPDATE Problem solved via Nvidia Control Panel, forcing the game to use proper GPU. EDIT/Update The issue seems to be that FE uses Intel HD Graphics 3000 instead of my GT 630M. Considering that HD 3000 is integrated graphics card, bad frame rate is to be expected. Here's what debug.err shows on display info: Display Info Display device 1: Device Name: \\.\DISPLAY1 Card Name: Intel(R) HD Graphics 3000 Manufacturer: Intel Corporation Chip Typ
Just Internet, no Hot Seat or LAN? If the latter, definetly would pay $1. Hell, i could pay more for the latter options. Indeed, i might even buy another copy if LAN were possible.
