Good additions, especially the more quests and items. If I get another freakin' "Book of Dexterity" or health potion... I would like to see extra resources not go directly to the pool. Food spoils, everything costs money to transport and some gets lost by accident or stolen. Perhaps 75% of extra city resources go to the pool? Also something missing is disease. Where are the plagues? Germs are a major player in history. Also natural disasters could spice things up. Of course, t

I can barely keep up with the threads at a minimal level and play the beta! 1) I also vote for more variety in the races. 2) Personally, I believe there should be more of a good/neutral/evil characteristic as well as style. One of the things of making an alliance of factions to fight "evil" is that unlike evil, all sides have a say. It wasn't hard for Nazi Germany to have "allies" as they just made them do it at gunpoint. England almost attacked Russia because

I thought they said horses were not in yet? I didn't see them in the first game I played, oh well.

I started a new game just now and there was a new sovereign available. While moving around in the fog, I saw horses! I don't see anything posted. However, when I click "New Game' now the new sovereign isn't there!?!?! I do still have horses, at least in this game save.
1) Same here. I have to zoom out and then back in to move overland. 2) Just left-click on them and you interact. Remember, in a game, a right-click is always taking an action. left-click is simply finding out information or using a menu.
I know right click is usually an action. In this case the action I want is to talk to them. Usually that is the default for neutral character interaction, not attac

I tend to agree that city building doesn't feel right. It doesn't matter where I put most things other than ones that have prerequisites. Mines need ore, lumber mill needs woods, etc. I try to organize my cities by type. Gardens on one side, workshops and studies on another, temple and town hall on the third and military on the last side or perhaps with the civic buildings. That is just so I can see how much of each I have easily and it is organized. In reality, it wouldn

Same after I equipped an NPC with a sword from my own items the Sovereign had. The NPC image stayed on the map, even the cloth map, but the NPC was ijn my party. Additionally, I have seen monsters become invisible. I was moving a fasting moving troop through clear area and wound up getting wiped out by a stone golem that I couldn't see off my border. Afterward I still couldn't see it, but when my mouse went over the tile I got the crossed swords and info box. <

1) I cannot consistently seem to get the game to scroll when I move my mouse off the edge of the map. It did once, but it was sloooooow. 2) By habit, if I want to interact with someone, I right-click on them. Here I wind up attacking them! When I want to interact with a NPC, I have to move next to them and then click another button. Couldn't I at least get a message asking if I want to slaughter the innocent NPC? I feel like Lancelot in the wedding scene of "Monty Python and the Holy

I built a city not realizing that I cannot build on tiles if there is any terrain on it, like trees. I had an NPC in the city at the time and I razed the city The NPC was there, but now invisible. Shortly after clicking on my sovereign the game crashed out

Actually going to Microsoft http://www.microsoft.com/games/en-us/aboutgfw/pages/directx.aspx and updating DX 11 worked.

Upon installing the beta on my computer, I get "d3dx9 42.dll is missing" Windows 7 home - 64 bit Intel Core 2 DOU e8400 2 gig ram NVidia GeForce 9800 GT Ironically, I did not have this problem on my laptop with is i7 4 gig windows 7 32 bit. I suspect it has to do with home 64bit, but that is pulling a guess out of the nether regions behind me.
Curious what was stopping you from building from the beach onto the grassy tiles, form the vid it looked like you had adjacent buildable tiles. If it's not possible to build on the beaches (excepting coastal structures) would it be worth stopping the player starting a city on a beach tile?
I tend to agree. If I can sink land into the ocean, if I can raise mountains from a plain, why can't I make a beach/
You know I guess it is an immersion thing, But I can say that I never ever really associated a real time frame with turns in any TB games I played unless they put in seasonal effects. Combat taking place over multiple turns wouldn't bug me, in fact I love the idea. I just have trouble understanding not doing it becuase some pre defined 1 turn = 1 year thing. Personal thing but I would hate to see an idea as good as multiple tur

First, China is a great civ that has lasted eons. I was not disparaging them in any way.If anything, I was trying to explain why at least technology quickly transfers on contact. Just like with Native Americans, I was saying technology and, in the case, resources, can be easily adopted. While rats, cochroaches and other vermin also spread and cause disease and potentially pandemics, that is not what I was saying. What I am saying is if you attack someone, they will adop
A human player will pull up the mini map and figure out which general direction they should explore. The AI? Nope. I won’t let it do that. It doesn’t get to “know” anything about a map.
Ehm, there's this thing called a "markup". Retailers make a profit by charging customers more for products than the retailers buy them for. I'm sure charging your supplier for buying their stuff is nice for the retailer, but you have to admit it's a little weird. (I doubt a dairy company has to pay a supermarket to sell their milk and butter, for instance.) But it's industry standard, so publishers just have to live with

Forgive me if this has been brought up. The Conquistadors brought the horse to the Americas and the Indians quickly adapted to use this new resource. That is one of the most blatant examples, but potatoes in Irelend, sugar, cotton, spices, etc. world wide. Some resources should be able to be transpanted intentionally or not to similar environments. If you have horse and invade someone without it, they can spawn that resource if the environment allows, like the great p

WEGO -WEGO-WEGO! I am totally good with TBS vs RTS in the intial release. If there is a patch with WEGO, that will truly make this game epic. I have been waiting for two weeks with baited breath (and since I live in the US gulf coast, and it is hot, and right now is shrimp and crawdad season, stinky!) for the Beta 2. I still think the points of this thread should be broken out with polls and individual threads on each topic. This thread (thing) has a life of its own. Too broad

Nice to see some love for WEGO. We need to boil all this down so someone coming in doesn't get overwhelmed and repeats what we have all been saying. What we mostly agree on It appears we almost unanimously dislike winner-take-all Most want maps that reflect the stategic map. Some version of premap maps at strategic locations would be good (perhaps cities?) we would prefer not to see the same map more than once a blue moon and certainly not

You cannot expect green undisciplined troops to hold up and charge stronger units while taking fire. The units
