There is a problem that links a weakness in the magic system to a weakness in champion selection. Global mana was a fantastic improvement, and I think one of the best things done for the game so far. I just had a thought, and it may be silly, but what if console makers created a "PC-Like" version of their consoles that came with keyboard and mouse. In other words, a console with more memory and connectivity (and whatever else is missing), that still plays all the regular console games, but also allows for developers to make games that normally would fit better on PCs and would attract PC gamers. This does sound good. Perhaps magic should play a larger part in unit design. These units are coming from a magical empire, and so their training should reflect this somewhat. This could be in subtle ways like magic resistance training, or more overt displays such as battlemage training that lets unit throw fireballs and other magical projectiles.

It is better to the degree in which you think it's better. For me, the game will improve in a major way when they realize that champions are currently boring and indistinctive, and when they individualize them, give them better names, unique abilities, special appearances, and for the love of God, give the magic users their own mana pools of varying size and regeneration rates.
