Quoting Raven X, reply 7 Definitely NOT a rehash. NwN 2 was a rehash. DA:O is the most original RPG I've seen in years.Yeah. Leliana is totally not Imoen.
Are you the same Luckman from HoN in the clan LC? Also... are you really going to base the determination of a rehash based upon a possible character similarity??
Jharii
Both have excellent potential. And I respectfully decline the notion that DA is a rehash. Spend 10 minutes on some previews and you'll see... Whatever. There is no reason not to own both, as Torchlight is a mere $20.
Direct2Drive ?
If ANY game will hook someone, Neverwinter Nights definitely fits the bill. Obviously, you could dip into NWN2 with her as well. If she can handle the Sci-Fi genre, Mass Effect will definitely satisfy her. Outside of that, you could try some of the Diablo clones, such as Sacred 2 or Titan Quest (both real good games). You can get both off of Direct2Drive dirt cheap.

I tend to agree. Some better contrast on the map would be very welcome. The cloth maps "of old" tended to be very vibrant when depicting landmarks and the like.
People are being pretty civil. I was kinda expecting to say "Oh gawd why isnt this working?!? u suck!" Submitted my first crash report today, am learning quite a bit about betas. Can't wait to find more bugs to report.
The Elemental community is very civilized and dare I say, respectful and intelligent. This is light years away from the Heroes of Newerth beta DotArds. That place is like living in the internet v
I don't think this is a particularly good idea, as, if I don't want to be researching something/don't have anything to research, you have just rendered the game unplayable.
Read the follow up suggestions. Ambient notifications is an excellent compromise.
Also, I would like there to be an option to either use smaller building icons or maybe even just text list.
A combination of the two would be nice. Small icon + text summary. Waiting for a tooltip on each hover is time consuming, and on a turn based game, you want to eliminate these types of time sinks. The height of the selection screen could be 1.5x the current height with a scroll bar at right. Filters would be a nice option as well.
Or simply a notification. I.e. the button to open the tech tree is highlighted differently when you are not researching vs. when you are researching. Same with building creation, unit creation, etc.
There is an entire Elemental Beta forum for this.
You may want to use the tag that was requested to be used... [CRASH] Yours may get overlooked when they filter.
The first time I ran Elemental, the game was very responsive and ran smoothly. The second time I ran the game, it responded very slow to all commands, including unit selection and map scrolling. Even the scrolling background for the main menu was very choppy. Posting Dxdiag information: ------------------ System Information ------------------ Time of this report: 9/18/2009, 04:16:44
Good catch. IMHO, they should have a [SPELLING] and/or [GRAMMAR] category of bugs, as these tend to be low priority that are gone through all at once when a developer needs to "get away" from the real coding.
It's "PERFORMANCE" and if it's a graphical problem, it's likely not a performance issue, per se. Also, you provided a link to an image that no one can get to since it is on your local drive.
Oh boy, getting nervous. Have my original pre-order email which is good. Tried Scorpiana's method but it didn't work.
Hmmmm. I never received a preorder email, although they most certainly have the funds pending at my bank.
I will only suggest the following... If you are asking how to overclock, you have no idea how to do it. If you can afford to replace a CPU after you burn it up, just skip the overclocking thing and buy or upgrade your current CPU. It's not *overly* difficult. But the risk/reward is nowhere near worth it to get a few percentage points of performance increase. There are plenty of websites out there that can assist you that are reputable.
Banned for mistaking not paying attention for ignoring.
Good Idea: Avoid koda0's baiting on discussing his high school drama.
Wait, if I got this right, if I just preordered just now I wont get to beta?
You did not get this right... For the rest of September, new users will be able to pre-order and join in as well and then it will be closed (people can still pre-order but they won’t get access until we roll out Beta 2.
Keep a pen and notepad close at hand. Try to write down your EXACT steps to reproduce the problem.
Canada does need a bigger and better military. The horses are getting tired of swimming across the ocean and Peta is threatening to invade. Great example of ignorance in the original post, though.
SSI's Pool of Radiance. Dungeons and Dragons Gold Box series were AWESOME. I was 14 (25 years ago). It was a Commodore 64 computer.

Dawn of Discovery is an excellent game... for the first 3 hours of a new game. This is about the time that you cap your technology and upgradability. All it is at this point of the game is escessive resource micromanagement. The game is absolutely beautiful and has tons of potential, but gets incredibly dull after that 3 hour window closes.
