There are mods that already address those kind of things. I agree to a point that the factions are not quite "fantasy" enough. I wish that 5 of the 8 nations were not just medieval European humans, but I think the nations have gained a lot of flavor in FE. My personal taste fall somewhere in between I think. I like a plethora of fantasy races, but I want them to be unique to the fantasy world and I don't want them to be over the

High upkeep shouldn't be this ridiculous, it's about 5 times what a unit like that should cost. It can cripple an economy. It's really way too high, and not worth it. It takes a pretty high tech to even be able to build the thing, influence and gold after that, that should be enough. Right now, they are detrimental. The wildlings, ogres, and such are free upkeep, so even if they are of marginal use, they are not draining my resources, b

I don't want standard fantasy races. Lets add races that are in the lore that haven't previously been playable. Edar? Iru? Maybe Sions as a race of it's own? And the Drath should make a comeback too.

I would have the Mercenaries be something much different. I'm thinking a 3 man Krax mercenaries With dark grey rust armor, feet, thighs, chest and wrist. Black hooded cloak, Skath Claw sword, Bronze shield. For traits, Krax Blood, Strength, endurance 1, and gambler's strike. Krax are the most likely to be mercs to every faction, Krax mercs are described in the novel. Also, this would create a unit you couldn't normally c

Then Middle earth, and the Game of thrones continent, and any of a dozen other maps. Not my cup of tea but hundreds of people design these maps and many many people download them. I just checked Civfanatic's Civ 5

Why would anyone care about darklings/wilding allies when you can mass slaughter them in your sleep? The shamans and warg riders can be nice sometimes, so why not allow getting them somehow?
I agree, I wish we could either upgrade these so we get something more useful, or instead of getting stacks of useless units, we cou

I always think back to a game, probably not many ever played on the Sega CD, called Dark Wizard. Dark wizard was a strategy game with a lot of style, you had a Sovereign could choose from a Knight Maiden, a Boy Prince, A Vampire Lord, and an Evil Sorceress. And based on your Sov, you could summon monsters or hire heroes to help you. Elves, Hobbits, Dwarfs, and Humans and you could level them along a warrior, cleric, or mage path way and they leveled up b

I've honestly never heard of anyone who plays 4x games wanting preset maps. You remember one of the four Xs is "eXplore" right?
Somebody should really tell Firaxis this before they release another Civ game filled with real world

Well, to stay on topic, I just don't think you can conclude anything from this data. I don't think the weight of every entry is time/work equal. Also not working in this field, I can't say that the data presented is meaningful in a way that correlates with a verifiable conclusion. Does the number of entries equal the manhours of work? Wouldn't some entries represent some things that took minutes and others hours? What is the&nb

Shit, you should see some of the DLC that Paradox put out for CKII. Makes Horse Armor look like Shivering Isles. (god that was a nerdy reference) They sell individual background music, coats of arms, and all types of minor shit. But then again, it's cheap and their $5 DLC are pretty meaningful...I hate when I try to make a point and in the middle I find a way to argue with myself.

Eh, forum trogs bitch about DLC and things a large portion of players are perfectly willing and wanting to pay for. Let them put out the map packs, see how many are sold, learn from it, right or wrong, as Beth did with horse armor and we'll see.
