Gonna add more. This is a strategy game. That means, like chess, you need to be thinking many moves ahead. Plans. What are your plans for war, diplomacy, what are your research goals. If I am Altar, I may plan to rush Henchman, or if I am Yithril, I may plan to go straight to Juggs. You have to plan for war. Even if you don't want to fight a war, your neighbors may not feel the same way.

its 9 for an attacking army, but defending armies can have 9+city defense. The problem with defense is, you really can't recover from anything in this game. By that I mean, the outcome of a war is often determined before the first battle. Very Sun Tzu really. If you are not prepared when the enemy attacks, it's pretty doubtful that you will be able to build an army to fight off your attackers. In 20 turns of combat, the ene

They do need to make other choices viable. They need to overhaul how diplomacy works, but I don't think increasing the cost of military is the way to do it.

There isn't one. The faction is pretty good, but the race is shit. The -1hp per level is really painful with nothing to balance it out. The 3hp per kill is somewhat useful to a new, low level Sov/Champ, but it soon becomes worthless and the hp penalty becomes quite a burden. And for troops, the 3hp per kill is nothing and the -1hp is devastating.

Oh really, so GOG is selling new games without DRM? These are new games that are not just indie titles/low budget games? Wow, I might have to take a look at that. EDIT: You tricked me.
Lord Xia, Realism often goes against gaming. If i would play a realistic roman or ancient battle most of the time armys would try hard not to fight against eachother. Moving into a superior position and waiting for the other to attack. Which wouldnt be much fun. Civilization isnt realistic but it wouldnt be much of a game either if it was realistic.
Oh, I agree completely, I was just arguin
I will be 57 next month (retired bricklayer); played Gc2 but never ad&d. I have always enjoyed Tbs games but not so much Rts. Some of the best turn based games I've played: Master of Monsters (Sega Genesis), Dark Wizard (Sega Cd), Panzer General (Originally bought this on the 3DO console), Homm 3, the Civ games, V is the best imo, Gc2 Rts: Company of Heroes, Sose Trinity (
Should almost do a poll on this: Would you be willing to give up player designed units to have a greater visual variety in the races? Basically, the limitation is that each body type / skeleton requires its own set of clothing, armor, etc.
Hell No.

I am 32. GalCiv2 was my first stardock game. I played AD&D in the late 80's and it took a few years to move into 2nd edition, played that, Heroes Unlimited and Rifts until I got out of high school and then started playing some 3rd edition when I was in my mid 20s for a couple years, having playing anything for awhile now.
