The problem is, this just delays the city spamming, it doesn't really solve the problem. Whatwas really needed is opportunity cost for not levelling up your cities.
Yep, but delaying city/outpost spamming is a good thing in itself for the gameplay, hence my previous post. So the problem with non-brainer city spam at once as a super effective strategy above everything else seems solved (as

Looks great this patch. Can't wait to test it out. The pioneers costing population is a welcome change. We needed more opportunity costs on spamming new cities and outposts. More strategy and long term planning from the start of the game is of course great. Growing capital a level or 2, or go out securing a city/outpost location or two first instead, should be a hard decission for the player to make. Not a non brainer: Build as many pioneers you possible can from game s
What some call micromanagement, others call important decissions and strategy. The micromanagement in FE is adding to the game in my book, and the game would mostly be poorer without it. When it comes to UI and those kind of things, it can of course always be done better, but never let them go on the expense of good strategical game mechanisms. And: The thread poster are obviously being sarcastic, making a point towards people that think road building will be too much micro. I
How heroes are recruited will definatly be one of the focuses in this expansion. I suspect they will be hired in the capital now under certain limiting rules, and that you will need a building before starting to hire the lowest level ones. Benefits; - This way it becomes one of the things you have to choose when to prioritize in the build queue, with the tradeoffs that gives the player. Ability to recruit heroes will depend on the development of your capital too
Thanks Brad for some glimps of info on the great news to come this year. Really looking forward to the expanion pack, whatever the focus it will have. On the other announcements this year I'm very excited to find out what Jon Shafer is working on. I'm very hopefull it's GalCiv3, and that's what feels most likely. If not it better be another epical 4X, Grand Strategy TBS-kind of game. Don't waste his ta
Sounds like rational behaviour by the AI to me. He takes the chance of war when you are occupied in another war, instead of waiting until you get even stronger. He isnt so interested in just sitting on his back waiting to be annexed it seems....
There's no limbo. I've said it time and again, people just don't want to accept it. It's precisely because those units are usually level 12+ with massive HP that they don't want you to be able to upgrade them... as that would just make those units all the more invincible afterwards. If you want better units, you have to train them from scratch and gain those exp again. This is part of the balancing needed to make sure yo
8,6 from me and a clear potenial for 9 and 10 with the upcoming expansions. I think this game is an instant classic and already better and richer in many ways compared to simular games that have legendary status today like the Heroes of Might and Magic-series, Age of Wonders and Masters of Magic.
Heck I figure I still owe Kael about $200 just for FFH2 so I'll buy anything Stardock put out for this game! So yeah, do an alternative Anthys map with fixed start locations and I'll buy it!!
I'd love fixed start locations on this map as well. Perhaps in next expansion, when they make Umber and Capitar as factions again. While they where at it they could upgrade it with new terrai
From my point of view, a game that takes 20+ hours to finish is not multiplayer friendly. A multiplyer friendly game would have to last at most 2-3 hours in a single player game to be playable as a multi-player game.
Well, that's your taste when it comes to MP. Then you'll choose a tiny map, 1 vs 1 game, smallest amount of creatures and fast speed. Perhaps you'll also agree with your oppone
The best game this year for me. I'm also a great fan of games like Civilization series, GalCiv2 and the Europa Universalis series. When I was younger I also played the Heroes of Might and Magic series and MoM. Fallen Enchantress reminds me of these two, but it's better. It has alot of those things I've always wished the Heroes-series would evolve into to become a deeper strategy game, but the HoMM-series stopped evolving after Heroes IV...

You can also get those unit cards up before battles on every unit you like, by choosing the unit in question, then press the unit portrait tha

Thank you and keep up the good work, please
Oh yes, I'm in love with this franchise. Wish it a long and fruitfull life with alot of support and expansions. :D

Cool, and good news. There are too few LP's out there with difficulty over challenging. Expert is a nice choice, this will be exciting. I will start following this as soon I have the time, that should be this weekend. ;) NB! The only thing I don't like is the fast setting. Hopefully normal speed and same setting otherwise in your next LP.
Hate snaking, and I'd also like another system where pioneers build the roads. Of course it would have to be limited by an upkeep cost for every tile with a road, like in Civ5. ....But when it comes to snaking it's not an issue anymore if you play auto-placement of city improvements. If some players absolutely want to play cheesy by placing them theirself to get an exploitive unfair advantage over the AI with absolutely no strategy involved, then be my gue
The player gets this as well for his own militia, but of course you'll need the tech. Only weapons gets upgraded by better techs, it never gets armor or anything else.
Me too! :D
Multiplayer would be a plus, but I wouldn't be able to use it often (long term TBS tends to be problematic to keep players involved).
I understand people are disapointed by the experience if they just join a random game hosted in the Civ5 multiplayer lobby for instance. What you have to do to play serious people that don't quit is to arrange games through the multiplayer communities own forums on Steam or other w

Deserves a better score, but atleast IGN finaly made a review. All PR are good PR! :)
+ from me for quick updates! :)
It's not silly to make game mechanisms that force you to take hard choices.
