title says it all... My only solution so far is to make all jewelry far more expensive to buy at stores (x5-x10)

All this conversation is for naught until the infinite accessories mechanic gets nerfed into oblivion. The most imba accesory isn't attack or moves or hp, it's combat speed. Every time you attack you get to play first, so with combat speed of 13 or something equally big, you lay waste to all that could oppose you in the first turn. I know, cause my sovereign cleared monster armies with CR 2500 in the first turn she attacked. Also getting the gold is easy, just f
Yes I had all of the computer players, but still when the last set of shards appeared, the last computer sovereign had 0 cities and was walking on the map alone.... Also when other players research more resources, are these new and extra? I always thought that all players get a common set of those, so the only reason to research the techs would be to be the first one to grab them.
I think it is caused when I load the game. I played and finished this game in 1.5 not in 1.6, I'll let you know about 1.6...
In my first game, after a long time I noticed that new shards were spawning on the map. I don't know if that's intentional but it sure causes a lot of trouble, and makes shards useless and even an annoyance. Reminds me that episode from Space 1999 with the growing mineral aliens... An image is worth a thousand words: Note that this is a small map.... <img style="float: left;" src="http://img251.imageshack.us/img251/360/elemental1282872401.jpg" alt="" wid
Ok, I finished my first small game. An I have come up some personal rules and mods to use/try for my next 1.6 "balanced" games: 1. A hero/sov can only use 1 instance of each jewelry. You can use 4 rings if they are a different item each. Why? With loads of gold sovs/champs become fast truly immortal. Also the AI isn't using that trick. I wish I knew how to mod this. </p
I'm just amazed at this work, I wasn't expecting anything till next week.
Woa! excellent job! [e digicons]k1[/e]
The fact that you reached the windows 7 desktop after a fresh install doesn't mean a thing. Granted, some PCs can't even go there for sure. You have to be certain that the components in your PC are in good working order, the bios has the right settings for them, do the thing they say they do on the box, are compatible together, and that they can perform under load. So check your drivers, do stress tests, both the multicore cpu stress tests, the gp
XSLT is another thing, in XSLT you use an XML document and XSL transformation code, to produce another document. An XSLT processor is used like a "compiler" on the inputs. XSLT is XML like only in terms of it syntax, i.e. it uses markups, and only on the fact that it accepts XML as its input. What lies inside the tags ... isn't part of XML and that was the intended design. It could be java, it could even be C++, a cooking r
Just a small update b4 I leave, the game is on normal diff, medium map plus all of the factions for early conflict.
I just came out of my 2nd 4 hour session in my first game. Here's the deal and some notes: I choose to start with bows. Bows are definitely imba at the start of the game. Even single units can do wonders. I also picked organized. I am playing a female sov, got married asap. I am traveling with the husband. Why? He also gets xp, and levels up. I imbued him after the marriage and all the points go to essence and int he's to imbue the
It's because the big studios are the ones buying all the advertising which is where the magazines and sites make all their money. As a result game magazines are very hesitant to publish an overly critical review of their flagship games (particularly the ones with big advertising budgets) for fear of the ads being pulled and losing all that revenue. Stardock, on the other hand, is an indie studio with a small advertising budget, so consequently they

Please realize that python access also opens the pandoras box. The modding of EwoM with python isn't easy and bulletproof. Mistakes and lack of understanding of how the game works internally will cause it to crash hard. This isn't like making a Heroes III map or a SC map, where the game has a complete suite of internal error checking to warn you or prevent you from breaking the game as you mod the stuff.

People need to realize what EwoM and Stardock is all about. First of all how can you call something complete? Is starcraft 2 complete? Is World of warcraft complete? This is always up to the people managing software design and production to decide. If it was up to the customers to decide, then no game is complete, not wow not galciv2 not soase not diablo, not super mario, not even tetris.
XML is not procedual. It doesn't have to be. The semantics can still be described; it's just up to the engine to process and evaluate it.
If you're talking about a preprocessor, that takes the role of a procedual language that transforms a document as I stated. If you're talking about including tags like : .. tags .. <el
If you mose over the button to talk there is a pop up explaining why. Most ppl miss it cause the button is grayed if you can't talk/hire the npc. It would have been better if the npc would tell you this in dialogue. or maybe exchange other resources for their services. But I guess there was no time to do it.
As per my older post , My idea entails generating gold prom population. I personaly find it unnatural to have big cities and having only merchant buildings producing gold. those peasants sure eat my food! The idea is to make houses give a standard fixed gold income 0.5g or 1g per turn, scaling it apropriately with other housing types. This way even AI housing will produce gold. I underst
XML is not procedual. You can't have ifs, loops, cases, whiles, procedures or macros. A procedual language (Python) that reads the XML can make desicions based on the markup text. Now note that you can embed scripts of python inside the xml, but you are completely dependent on the semantics of the procedual code that reads your xml.
I also noted that unit gaining levels get HP but nothing else. The same stands with training more experienced units. Sure my Veteran macemen can handle that mace much better than the rookies, yet their attack values are the same. Also do resistances become better? what about spell resistance and spell saves? do they exists? How can I protect my army and my champions from those horrible spells?
The game is still confuzing regarding this. Also is there a seperate resistance roll? to hit roll? Currently you can't hit for zero damage so I my guess is that zero damage is a miss. Also fractional attack power is counted as well or the roll takes place only on ineger power? My caster with an attack of 0.8 tried to hit a unit with 1 defence. Can I do damage?
No there isn't Please also note that when the grid is absent from some squares you can't move there. I would also like to have a visible screen overlay of the passability map.
