The new cloth map looks pretty damn awesome. I see on the levelup page there is still no way to examine the city prior to picking your upgrade. That is a bit dis-heartening. :( Suppose that is still something that could be thrown in easily enough just before release though. *crosses fingers*
I figured out how to open the big map.. just needed to mouse scroll out. The map is gorgeous btw. I've progressed fine in game and I'm getting the hang of it. The only problem I'm having now is, though it was working fine yesterday, today the game crashes on save. I've even loaded order saves and tried to save them and it crashes so something specific to saving.<br /
Have been away for a while. Great work, its nice to see new ideas for improvements. However, I would like to see the option to raze enemies outposts to not be taken out. Reasons been, 1) AI players have always been a bit off when choosing places to build cities and outpost. They always seems to choose a lousy tile to build on when a better one can be found a short distance away. (1 or 2 tiles away) 2
That said, the UI is probably the "last" thing to be worked on, since making a perfect interface for city options that will be discarded later on is a waste of time
Yes, this. Now if the UI were in this shape at release, I'd have some serious complaints. But as long as they keep tweaking the stuff as we go along that we know won't change, and fix it up completely prior to ship, I can live with it for n

They should be fighting monsters all the time.I almost never fight with anything but my champions and sovereign. Is putting three to five champions with my sovereign what's slowing me down? Do troops take a smaller chunk of the xp?
Yes that is slowing you WAY down. There was a change made a while
I thought that upgraded designs. Does that also upgrade troops in the field? My sense of it (from limited testing) was no. I think the OP is looking to upgrade troops in the field which were produced earlier, to allow them to upgrade their equipment, but keep their levels.
As long as you are in your own zone of control, you can upgrade weapons/armor in the field.

The only thing I'd like to see changed is other people's caravan's hogging MY roads! Nothing worse than trying to rush somewhere only to have my army make a detour around a lone caravan sitting on my road. I think that unless you are at war with the owner of said caravan you should be able to pass through it.
2) I would like to see the extend of potential city limits BEFORE I settle down, IE how far I have to go before I build another city. I would rather have 2 cities at 3/3 than one city at 4/4, as it is often the case.
Currently this is somewhat impossible, because it depends on how far and in which direction you lay out your buildings. Depending on the new city building changes this may be something that is possible, and if so, I would totally a

That way, if things don't work out for it, you won't be disappointed. The reason we want to put MP into FE is, really, because I want it in. There's no business rationale for it. But so much of the MP is there I just hate seeing it not finished off.
Hopefully that stops that discussion

You did however need to login via Impulse to download updates.

It's a good game. For $20, it's a great game. Doesn't kill my desire for FE at all though, at the current beta, I prefer FE considerably.
Quoting Glazunov1, reply 4"Sure, we have very large, 64-bit maps. But if your system can't handle them, you'll crash." This sentence right here is why Stardock can't implement such a thing fresh out of the box. No matter how you try to explain it, you'd basically be creating content that only a certain number of players can use, which as far as 32-bit players are concerned is cheating them out

You know, I've been toying with switching to Linux for years, when Win7 sunsets this just may be what makes me go through the learning curve. Hard to believe they are being this stupid, as others others have said, this would all look great for tablets/phones, but for a desktop?? Un-freafing-believable, it's like they forgot how people who don't just browse the Internet use computers!

As long as I have the +mana for the upkeep, I always keep "Inspiration" cast on all my cities, and absolutely, positively, cast it immediately on first city at start of game, it knocks the research time way down in the early game.

You may want to put some notes in here with regards to O/S, memory, resolution, full-screen/window, etc. I play this game on my work computer and alt-tab in and out all day long with no problems with thunderbird, excel, quickbooks, and a few other programs all running. So it may a be combo you are using that is not playing nice with the game, and knowing what that is can only help them fix it.
