Being bridged or gated to a WAN does not make a LAN any less of one.
TRUE, however it makes the game software WAN only and thus the game software is WAN gaming and not LAN gaming. This entire time we've been discussing how this is not LAN gaming software, but WAN gaming software. If a game stops/crashes because of a loss of internet then it's "obviously" WAN gaming software. People read in to it what they want (or don't want) to read. LAN means local area network and if a game has lan support it should not require internet servers to play on a LAN. If it would just check if the game is legal it might still be consi
Disingenuous statements like these don't help the discussion. Brad's already said it, but there's nothing stopping you from hosting a LAN party someplace with internet access and having at it. Playing via an external server doesn't make it not a LAN party; the whole point of it is that you're in the same room enjoying the game together, not where the packets are routed. This community is pretty good in the technical department, so I would imagine we'll get a few threads talking about performance sooner than later. It will sell high on its single player experience alone just like Galactic Civilization 2 did. Really wished Brad hadn't included any MP features at all because it always brings the riff raff players like you around. I'm not worried about the game being boring because the elaborate modding will add more fun and strategic game content... I'm worried about game stability since the last BETA version still had serious major problems and broken/incomplete editors. I'm also worried about multiplayer.

Yeah, you might lose a sale here and there scattered about, but there was no guarantee they'd buy the game even if it could be shared.
That is what a demo is for, to allow people on the fence to decide. It is also obviously unreasonable for you to purchase a game once and then hand it out to as many friends as you like. Come on, you're starting to sound like a pirate who is angry he won't be able to play multiplayer with his friends. You won't gain any sympathy for the pirate vote here, unless you are just trolling this thread, which in that case I
Why should they provide a way for these situations when the financial benefit is nil. By your own description those family members are not going to purchase their own copies, and if they did then great, then would just have to login to their impulse account and BAM they could play on your computer. Here's how you do it... BTW you will each need a unique serial to play on the Stardock servers you are connecting to." The point was never to say this is how you set up a LAN only game or if/when the game will support 15 players playing 1 copy of the game

Somekind of joke? now your local house is LAN, the Internet is a really large WAN.... so you basically have "LAN Support with Access to Stardock WAN Required" feature.... Okay now that really doesn't sound very local at all. Is the LAN Support a feature where you can type the Local Network Address instead of the Internet IP to connect? Oh well enough for my ranting I have to go to work!
</
