The only downsides are for those users who expect to have 1 license serve all their friends or LANs that have no Internet access at all. Yes some type of screen for position the units is important, otherwise a sovereign who travels the map will need to be more melee and less archer/mage.
I wonder why people cheats on computer games... isnt it better put on easy mode?
They cheat because they lack the maturity for facing any real challenges which only weakens their strategic gameplay in the longterm. Many are perfectly comfortable reloading a saved game over and over to win important battles or change a random event... those poor computer opponents never had a chance. There was lots of crying on th
So LAN games will need an internet connection? I certainly hope that's not true... because then the game has to rely on the InternetServiceProvider of the gamer(s) and the servers at Stardock. Hopefully Elemental will be as LAN friendly as Heroes_3, Civilization_4(&Civ_5), AgeofWonders:ShadowMagic, Dominions_3, etc., etc., . Please don't chain the LAN gamers to the internet.
Let's not forget allowing multiple players on the battlefield... which significantly increases strategies.
This problem still exists and there's nothing more sad then finding an enemy sovereign who's brain dead. Examine the two saved game files and it's clear the Empire Kraxis is not moving and neither is his pioneer. They are located on the top right of the map... the yellow player. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9396252/Gameplay_Bugs/EnemySovereignStuck.rar
what is your video card? and do you have the advanced lighting on? I get the same on my low geforce (7600gs) in the beta4's, but on my 8800gt & ati's allwork properly. harpo
Yes, 7600GS Nvidia... seems the problem is only with my sovereign. I will try with advanced lighting turned off. UPDATE:
Thanks I moved the setting to 1, but when the battles start the screen has no battlefield map... I have no choice except choosing auto_resolve.
Okay I searched the forum and either I'm having bad luck or using the wrong keywords, but how do you turn off the auto_resolve for tactical battles? I searched the stickies yet and dev journals yet no luck.
I requested multiple players in a single battlefield long long time ago, but it doesn't appear to have made it into the game. :( Maybe it will appear in an expansion ! :)
AOW:SM had a simultaneous turn-based option for multi-player and it worked great even in Eight player games on Large maps (the only type we ever played.) Now I don't mind the traditional non-simultaneous turn-based option in TBS tactical ombat as long as I can watch the battles take place even if I'm not controlling any sides.
We plan to allow custom map makers to place moon gates on the maps. They wouldn't be in random maps though.
Awesome! :)
Okay here's my list of problems with the map editor... first whoever is working on the map editor please take a glance at the Heroes_3 and AgeofWonders:ShadowMagic editors. These editors are easy to use and still quite powerful please just take a look at them so you're not trying to reinvent the wheel. 1) Allow map makers to edit stuff which is placed on the map. It should be easy for map makers to edit the properties of a quest, structure, creature, resource, etc.,
Not only more clear, but also higher level quest markers as different colors... I don't want to send some weak rookie to collect a powerful reward.
There's an Item maker as one of the editors... otherwise nothing in the game yet. I recall AgeofWonders:ShadowMagic allows you to create items inside the game after raising your wizard tower to level_3 and constructing the forge.

Frogboy went to California which he says was for the game Elemental: WoM, but it was actually for some underground street fighting!! Here I was spending my Friday night in the parking garage of an abandoned building gambling on different fellas who are beating themselves into a bloody mess. I then get ready to place my next bet while reviewing the statistics sheet of the fighters and recognize "Frogboy" is the name of one of the fighters... so I turn looking to see who e
Sometimes Necromancing a thread is useful, but strager necromanced a thread which was not useful at all. Just so he doesn't make the same mistake in the future here's another example of good and bad necromancing when it comes to a game: Good Necromancing: Necromancing an ancient dragon to create a dracolich. <p
I also had this occur... and could see two town names overlapping. I did not post this issue on the forum since I was finding more serious problems which made my mind scream like a banshee.
