Let me say that I'm glad that most people seem to like the game.
While I am glad to hear you stating now that your dedication to this game and to ALL members of this community appears to be high no matter what anybody says about it, I hope that you will not confuse "most people" with "many fans on this website".

Hmn, perhaps it is my failure to grasp the feedback the UI may be offering, but I have not seen yet movement modifiers for terrain differences. I agree with you about impassible mountains -- I do not wish for these. Rather, I wish for my zone of control to MEAN something. Currently, it is moot whether my faction has 64000 or 64 tiles of forest, mountains, grasslands, swamps, or what have you under its control, since owning tiles yields nothing. Aside from the occasional shard or other

After many hours of testing, u pdated for 1.06 I still think the remarks on terrain / boardplay and unit footprinting in tactical battles remain unchanged and most needed of attention (also the points I see addressed least frequently in other posts of similar nature). Thank you.
Good stuff. We have seen many, many posts with similar ideas. This isn't a knock on you, just a confirmation that many of us are with ya!
Oh hey thanks. I hadn't seen much on maps or terrain, or unit creation, which was my original idea in posting, and had bugged me particularly because these were the same suboptimal features of GC2 which kept me from playing that game. I find it odd that histor

With a bizarre feeling of deja vu, I went back and reread my post on the GC2 forums (oddly enough, from August 24th 2006) in which I listed some constructive criticism which Stardock seemed interested enough in (Kryo replied nearly immediately) https://forums.galciv2.com/127960 Oddly enough, almost all of the shortcomings I felt were inherent in GC2 and I felt lingering in what I cou

The PC Gamer "review" did not seem overly acerbic to me. The writer even said he would not review the game until it was playable. He voiced what appeared to me to be reasonable opinions and arguments. I also tend to feel that many things went wrong here, and one of them was an over-abundance of fanboyism on the part of the community here.

I disagree. Years ago, people would purchase a CD, install and play, and at least some people have already had more than 48 hours to do so. There have already been some patches. This is the game version that Stardock chose to release, why shouldn't someone be able to gain an impression within that amount of time? It appears that some people never play any title for more than 20 hours anyway...

Hmn it also appears that moving into the various tiles in tactical combat mode cost the same amount of movement points regardless of what kind of tile that is, so that moving onto high ground or low ground costs the same. I'd like to see more variation here, including LOS-penalties.

Elemental seems to have Place 8 on most popular PC games over on gamespot.com http://www.gamespot.com/pc/index.html?navclk=pc&tag=nav-top%3Bpc They haven't gotten a review up yet, but there have been quite some voting from the members, http://www.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/elementalwarofma

I'd like to see terrain be somewhat more interesting. Suggestion 1: More inherent differences between terrain types, e.g. movement penalties to various unit types (and nullification of these under certain circumstances, e.g. bears in woods or lizards in swamps), more varied combat boni und penalties (and variations on these with certain types, also types of training available to units), more variation in tactical battles (e.g. danger of fire in woods, difficulty with fire in swamps, c

In the first video, setting up your sovereign, it was fairly surprising how quickly you jumped to certain settings and reveal that other settings were vastly suboptimal. Obviously, there are some balance issues here that you briefly touch upon. Interesting! In most of the videos, you seem tired, and somewhat bored. In the third video, for instance, you reveal that your sovereign is unarmed and would fall easy prey to wolves, bears or bandits et al., and you seemed to be surrounded by these at

Would it be possible to compile, at some point, a somewhat more comprehensive document on information about how things work in Elemental? As it is, I really do not understand the details of how - zones of influence expand / encroach on one another - hits are determined - damage is calculated - morale effects work - prestige is calculated - diplomatic capital is calculated and various other variables in the game. Where might a per

What is the Tor thing, if you please? I live in Germany and am continually bugged that I cannot purchase games via impulse et al. that are, for often idiotic reasons, not available to me in English (in other words: I MUST purchase a German localization). THank you

Thank you. I was also hoping to suggest some things that might be able to be opted in before day 0, but could also be for the days following day 0 when the masses test out the full game. I realize it is difficult to make meaningful suggestions regarding the full game based on only what we beta-testers have seen, but that is also part of my frustration -- I was under the mistaken impression that we beta testers would not only test the individual elements of the future game, but also, at least

Granted, we beta testers have only tested individual elements of E:WoM and not the entire game -- that surely would have been a great help to the development team. Be that as it may, from my experience with what I can see shortly before release, here is a brief list of the things I think need most urgent improving, and some concrete suggestions on how to improve. Please feel free to comment and add! With the exception of Pacing (below), I think all three areas I name are strongly inte
Seriously guys, this is a beta. I know you probably don't want to hear it but we are beta testers and our goal was intended to find bugs and errors so Stardock can correct them. This is NOT a demo and it's not for our pleasure. However, if these issues crop up in a release candidate, then I'm inclined to agree with you. However, we're certainly not there yet.
I think that's the point. We have spent about a year tes

I also find it difficult to give qualified feedback on a beta whose state has been called "painfully" boring by its developer, while at the same time realizing that it has gone gold. I too want to be able to give feedback in terms of gameplay balance and overall fun, but that is difficult for the reasons many posters above have listed. I too, therefore, belong to the group of testers who are still "missing something".
Anyone who doesn't like it, is being an ass or just plain stupid
How bizarre. Tastes do differ, thank God. Inception was entertaining, if bogged down by gratuitous gunfights and special effects. The lapses in logic were much greater than in Nolan's original masterpiece of 10 years ago: Memento, which had a similar theme but was much more coherent, dramatic, and consistent. Inception got the job done, although I

I do not find this quite so problematical; I think it is reasonable to wait for loading, as long as you know when and where. You might even consider making a tiny cut-scene frame while the game parses the tiles, with a little text-reminder to the new player: "Loading Map; this might take a couple of minutes", and the player can go make a cup of coffee etc. I'd rather have it this way than poor frame rates and interim loading during the game.

Yey! Can't wait. I still play 3C. And I still agree with Brad that it's pretty awful. That's why I still think it's really bizarre that a game that is still awful is going to be released so soon, I'm still scared.
