Anyone ever played with a game called "Sword of Aragon"? I just read that it was a decent strategy game. I must try it out, I don't really care about the gfx. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sword_of_Aragon Anyways here is the intro: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CjkEusIw0k0
I'd like a "generic fantasy" mod, with Elves, Dwarves, Halflings, Orcs and so on. Maybe I'll even get involved in creating it... (inspired by some classic games, like MoM, HoMM and the Age of Wonders series).
I also plan to work on a mod like that, perhaps we should join our forces later on. ;)
I think a "phase-based" combat (a phase of giving orders, then a phase when all units move and fight simultaneously for a fixed amount of time, then an orders phase again and so on) is a better idea than BG-like pausable battles. In multiplayer it can be annoying if the opponent pauses the combat every few seconds, and if the pause is disabled in MP it becomes an RTS, which TBS-lovers like me don't like.
Whi

The other Kingdoms/Empires should care about the power/threat level of other Kingdoms & Empires + the relationship between the sides must also have a strong effect of course. Example: If you -the player- will destroy some cities/armies/caravans/whatever of a given Kingdom, it s

Re cities: Right now my biggest concern is the city "spamming". We have a tiny map in the Beta 1Z builds, but even on this tiny map it's possible to build lot of cities. It doesn't feels right. There must be a bigger gap between the cities. AFAIK now we have a "4 tiles rule" [4 tiles are the minimum gap between the cities], this should be changed to 6 tiles at least.
The object of beta 2 will be to begin the testing of the server infrastructure. Elemental is client/server for its multiplayer. In fact, it’s dedicated server for beta 2 – players will be playing on our own servers distributed across the world.
Nice, so I suppose we gonna have EU "master servers" as well. Not that ping matters in a TBS, so I could easily play on a US server as well.
One multiplayer mode is called
Had they not done so, the maps would all have had to have been larger and this in my experience tends to lead to 'hinterlands' syndrome- cities far from the frontlines become completely ignored and never really threatened, making them simple cash cows. The solution for that would be to have magical spells to create rifts or have moon gates or something.
Mass Teleport? [e digicons]*_*[/e]

I'd prefer auto-leveling over having only 5 "levels" for normal units ... but I would prefer custom leveling for all units most of all. As well as Experience being allocated based upon Damage Proportion and Kill #, but hey. Auto leveling worked like a charm in AoW2 - SM. Your units became stronger while leveling up [+HP,+ATT,+DEF, whatever]

Just a couple of my ideas: - Protect the cities - Not only with troops but with magical spells as well. - Protect the Sovereign [#1 priority in EWoM, because Sov dies = Game Over] - Protect the Heroes/Generals - Use counter magic IF it's possible. [IE. If the player is using fire based spells mostly, try to research and use spells which offers protection against fire magic.] Obv
