That doesn't prevent factions from the same side playing totally different inside their common frame. Not that I expect the 10 factions to totally play differently from each other of the same side (not enough time/money/whatever?) but surely (hopefully?) each faction from each side will have some kind of "tactic/strategy" that is important enough as to be crucial when choosing which faction you want to play in one of the sides</st
Most likely it's just not in yet.
Let's hope so. :) It's perfectly fine if the Empires cannot recruit veteran troops from their towns. It's perfectly fine if the Kingdoms can. However, all units & creatures including the mightiest beasts should be able to gain XP on the battlefields. It's perfectly logical. No lore/setting can change this fact, since it wouldn't make any sense, if it wouldn't work like that.
For standard units there is no combat experience in the game right now.
This is true probably, and I don't like it. It makes no sense that the units won't gain XP at all. Battlefield XP should be in. Having a system like that opens up new strategic & tactical possibilities. [We've talked about this already.]
We're moving forward to beta 2. Based on reports, it's working pretty well for most people.
I'd vote for a single tiny map for Beta 2. If it's just about connecitvity and all that, one map is more than enough. Maybe?
Agreed.
Quoting MagicwillNZ, reply 13 I'm happy about this. It feels like we've been in Beta 1 forever. We have.
Eh, but the engine is much more stable now. That is a good thing. [e digicons]|-)[/e]
That's the option the Empire doesn't have. Presumably if some kind of unit XP system comes in, both factions will get it .
We don't know the details, but I am not sure about this. Even tho it would make no sense if the units of the Empire wouldn't gain battlefield XP.
Bellack - we won't have planes in EWoM. [Many of us would like to see planes in the game, but it won't happen, so we must try to implement planes via modding.]

Hm...so what do you have in mind TCores? How would this work exactly? The Empires would turn the bordering cities to their sides if the given Empire is mighty/powerful enough? What if an army is stationed in a specific border town? The army will have to fight vs. the rebels? Either way...not a bad idea actually...it reminds me of Civ4's culture system. :)
*edit* No Here is why: https://forums.elementalgame.com/381981/page/1/#2616430 If this gonna be fixed, I will vote Yes, because I don't have any CTDs or lock-ups.
The Fall from Heaven mod is a great mod but from what I remember, each faction doesn't have completely different game mechanics. To develop a little bit, ALL civs play VERY differently: Some dwarves get happiness and production bonuses for hoarding lots of gold. The other dwarves build units that... don't get experience (sorry for you, Empires, idea already done ). That is unless ONE unique unit (Barna

Maybe I'm getting the wrong impression but it seems to me the Empires (if they follow this outline) will all be war-like, which isn't a bad thing necessarily, but would lead to them all playing the same with little distinction between them . Maybe I'm jumping the gun on conceptualization, it just looks t
The Empire has taken a different path… In War Their soldiers don’t gain experience. Such a concept of thinking about individual soldiers is anathema to the Empire. As such, there is no such thing as a veteran Imperial soldier. However, they can train up special, powerful units (Guardians, Enforcers, and Sions). These powerful individuals will routinely demonstrate the inherent flaw in trying to train groups of soldiers to be more effe

If they focus on SP, it means that the various gameplay features [races/factions/equipments/tech & spell "trees" etc.] will get the "focus", and not the balancing. It's not so important to balance the game for SP. [In fact..maybe a balanced SP wouldn't be as fun like a "kinda"
Unfortunately, it crashes for me every time in the world build stage so Im totally stymied. As we weed out the major bugs and start getting into the per-user issues, we'll be working with players one-on-one to nail down hardware configs and determine what the fringe issues are. In the meentime, hopefully we stumble upon a fix for your problems, but if it's not playing nicely now, it probably needs a closer inspection. <
Ah, but that is pretty much my point. I feel like the game should come with some sort of balance. While I understand that it will be practically impossible for the vanilla game to be unbroken in multiplayer, I feel that SD should strive to make the most out of the game in terms of a balanced multiplayer game. When some people will start to make a balance mod, others will make another one, and you end up with a lot of talented modders working on a lo
