Great job! I have not had a chance to play FE yet, but I have been following the threads since the beginning of FE and I can't wait to finally dig in later tonight. On a side note, reading what I have, I have not wanted to dig into (an) Elemental (game) this much since I saw the first early screenshots - back when the originally was little more than a prototype. :) Thanks again for following through with the tough challenges and never giving up!

I have WER dump files and probably FE dumps if they get created. I just alt-tabbed to open an RDP connection and came back to a DX error and the game closed. I saw sitting at the character creation screen. hardware: Dell XPS 17" 2Gen - 8GB ram - i7 - nvidia GT 555M video card w/ 2GB RAM - Windows 7 SP1.

+1 to the guarding of caravans with some type of troop/unit or upgrade.
Agreed with many other posters, the game mechanics are far more important at this point than tutorials and graphics. There are quite a few unstoppable strategies in the game. They are made possible by AI "blind spots" combined with poorly balanced mechanics. I'm not saying all the mechanics are bogus, just that some of them suffer from bad balancing. Really bad balancing. You know, "suck the fun out of game bad". For what it'

This will probably not get read by dev; however, I did want to add in that not everyone can easily upgrade their video drivers. Yes, gamers are by nature pretty technical, but there are cases were users just want to jump in. Some notebooks have video card drivers that have not been updated in ages and laptop2go drivers are hit-and-miss with performance and heat. Yet, work fine when you use the older manufacture drivers. For example, I have been having video arti

I mentioned this in beta 4. It was great fighting off guys.. blast them with confusion and a spell that took 2 mana (area attack) and everything rolled over for my empire. I can't remember what spell it was since I have not played in about a month.. That spell seemed way too powerful though.

Guys.. I think SD is fast asleep after their marathon of patching [e digicons]:waaaa:[/e] I'm sure I will have the problem too.. since I had it during the beta's on 3 different systems (ATI and NVidia cards..), but give them some ZzZzZz. In the mean time.. If you have not reinstalled follow Nvidia's recommendation for installing a new driver - this requires you remove the old driver in safe mode - http

I agree with the OP on many of his observations if some of these things are not added to the main patch release/0day. I have not played 1.0 yet, but after playing a few beta versions I had hoped that the final release would not be as cumbersome to jump into. I'm sure that Stardock will step up and fix these issues and the memory/ctd issues that still perssist. We will just have to wait it out like we did with Demigod.

There is a slider in the options to fight all tactical battles... but it's not named friendly. Set it from 3 to 1 or 0 (can't remember.) I have not had a chance to play the final game yet, but in the beta I had this issue. My main guy had 0 attack, but plenty of sells. The tactical - auto-combat, would never use magic so I would die each time. To get around this, there was a setup option (last tab I think?) that said something like seed b

I like the idea of the spell going back into the realm as well.. maybe have a quest spawn somewhere where in the world that can be solved to obtain (learn) it. On a side note.. I've never really had a problem with enemy sovereigns fleeing since they always seemed to go right after my cities again and poof they were dead along with all of their cities gone. I found that sovereigns, in beta 4 at least, did not have the correct logic in that they would attack a he

This problem pretty much went away once I began running it in window mode - at full resolution. You may want to try that and see if it works around the current issue so that you can continue multi-tasking until the 0 day comes out :)

I would imagine that a save feature would be required, but saving and loading always scares me. I find that most out of sync (loading or differences in the world between the two PCs) is most prominent in a game that is loaded. I'm hoping that EL is not affected by that since everything is XML driven.. but that did not stop AOE3 from sync dumping... then again that game is a sloppy mess code wise that still lags on i7's and top of the line video cards.

I'm not sure if this has been fixed and it is minor, but there are no checks to verify that a city has not already been named as such before. I had two cities named the same, and although I could not reproduce it, I had a group of heroes jump into one city and end up in the other city. Good free teleport! I'm sure that in the back-end each city has some type of unique identifier (xml wise), but I figured I would throw it out there in case my teleport iss

I did not even realize anyone was trying to do an x-com or syndicate type clone. IMHO both Microprose (X-COM) and Bullfrog (Syndicate) are long gone .. along with ORIGINS (strike commander, wing commander, privateer, the real ultima's and Britannia games), Sierra, and several other great companies.. and I accepted that that wonderful era was over a long time ago. Maybe it was youthful remembranc

Yeah, I have had the same problem since the beginning of my game. It looks like auto_resolve only works with sword play and not magic. I found out that even with a sword if I do auto_resolve it is pretty much a tossup if I will win unless the guy is really weak. Yet, my same guy can use magic and break down swarms of armies with the current magic bugs For example.. confusion takes their attack to negative (-) levels and then they can't fight

I came across a similar scenario when I joined my first .90 game. I recruited the first NPC a nd then walked next to the 2 nd NPC to attempt a recruit. I accidentally hit the wrong mouse button a nd instantly kill him. In the last beta it seemed like we needed to specifically hit the attack icon to attack NPCs a nd this appears to have changed. I guess it is possible that I am in
I still think they will deliver tonight. Programmers tend to work unusual hours.
That is usually because we want things fixed the way "we" want it and refuse to give up. Not so sure that this is a good thing at this point of the night though.. Time for bed guys!! Plenty of time to fix stuff later..

wow.. that is pretty pathetic on my part. Sorry about that! Perhaps a soverign shouldn't be allowed to initiate an attack if they do not have an attack rating? The previous / original case was not related to 0 attack since I was a fighting machine. However, that problem was fixed (xml change?) once I tried it after you requested the combat logs. Thank you again!

These forum posting crash almost as much as the game... Sorry.. this is short since I lost my last posting. Kryo, Sorry about the delay, but I have been trying to reproduce the issue. Yesterday I was able to reproduce the issue on two different systems and across multiple attacks (vs monsters). Loads and retries all result in the same results - my soverign does not attack at all and the battle continues until the monster is able to get off enough hits to defeat me. I will upload the debug.err files later today to my dropbox account and update the posting. How
