[.805/BUG/GamePlay] Defence Rolls bugged?

I was fighting a troll that was much more powerful than me, so I figured let me save the same and try my luck with my Soverign.

The fought the NPC and I died after nearly killing him first.   I loaded the game up and retried the attack.  The 2nd attempt I lost not a single HP and he was dead!   I reloaded the game several times and the behavior was consistent (sometimes no damage sometimes death, but nothing inbetween).

I have the saved game backed up incase anyone is interested in analyzing it.

What does the combat log say if you check the details on the combat screen?

I haven't seen any combat log in beta3 ...

I think he means the 3rd tab on the results card after the fight.  You can click on them to see loot and the log of the fight.

Nor do I.

When I win/lose I don't know what happened.

Kryo,

Sorry about the delay, but I have been trying to reproduce the issue.  Yesterday I was able to reproduce the issue on two different systems and across multiple attacks (vs monsters).   Loads and retries all result in the same results - my soverign does not attack at all and the battle continues until the monster is able to get off enough hits to defeat me.

I will upload the debug.err files later today to my dropbox account and update the posting.  However, in the mean time here are a few screenshots to show the issue in action.

Now that you mention it, I recall the combat screen being gone in .805 completely but back in .806.  I thougt they deactivated the feature, but it might just be ANOTHER bug.

These forum posting crash almost as much as the game...

Sorry.. this is short since I lost my last posting.

Some interesting points.

1. Medium map is not medium (navigated in < 50 turns of manual clicking/walking in a casual fashion)

2.Farms could not be built until after 2nd or 3rd load... Then they mysteriously started working

3. Quests could not be taken until this same loading

4. After 2 & 3 any attacks I got involved in lead to the condition stated above.

5. 6-7 AI players added to map yet only 1 built a city or was loaded (not sure).   There may be some logic that tells them that they cannot start their capital x # of tiles from another player.  Considering the small size of the map this may not have been possible.   There were plenty of npc's running around but I have no idea how to tell npc's from AI and everyone appeared to be free roaming.

6. I joined in .805 and I always saw the combat screen.. but I always created a custom soverign so maybe that is another clue into this bug.   I have not had one game that has not experienced this problem at some point.  So far 805 and 806.

7. If I try to do auto-explorer I see the following error:

Directive Canceled:  Error. No auto move directive.  (OK button)

As you can see in that second screenshot, Dujiver has zero attack. That'd be why he can't defend himself (no matter how much defense you've got, you'll get whittled down eventually if you can't hit back).

wow.. that is pretty pathetic on my part.   Sorry about that!    Perhaps a soverign shouldn't be allowed to initiate an attack if they do not have an attack rating?

The previous / original case was not related to 0 attack since I was a fighting machine.   However, that problem was fixed (xml change?) once I tried it after you requested the combat logs.

Thank you again!
