I have at least 400 hours logged with FE:LH. I only play on huge maps with at least 9 other civs. I play at one level above "normal" (hard?) I often play with the "cruel" leader trait b/c I roleplay my leaders and often play the Empire as a savage race of mutants bent on domination. I often have 10-15 cities by 1/3rd of the game or so and I have never had my game crippled. Where do you build your fort

This game has me addicted in a hardcore way.... after hundreds of hours, I wanted to offer a few thoughts on what would improve the experience - from amazing to perfection: * Have a slower research option. I play on "Epic" and on large/huge maps I often start to max out the tech with only half the map explored .... related is that I am constantly improving cities/units; I think there should be periods where no new tech is easily available - this would

Just got Blizzard for the first time and am horrified how strong it is! It makes the fire school of spells look pathetic - esp. when you get it earlier than flame wave. Plus you get the winter spell on the strategic map that damages armies.... in fact, the water tree in general seems a bit over the top compared to the others.....

Ok, I would like to hear people's thoughts on this aspect of the game. I wanted to make a magic-based elven sort of race so I used the ones that get +1 to move and gave them Enchanters, Scouts and Decalon with no armor as a penalty. Then I gave my leader Air, Earth and Life magic and Brilliant (on a side note: does Attune give +2 mana a level or just +2 mana?) and Pricopee's Circlet (don't know how to spell her name) &nbs

In all fairness, can you name an AI in a game this complex that does well? Civ 5, the most recent, has an AI that wrestles as well and I think FE is at least as complex. Anything they do to improve the AI is, of course, welcome - but I cannot think of one game of equal complexity that FE isn't at least as good as in its own right.... J

I posted this when I had my first 20 hours or so in the game - I no longer endorse my view :) I must have had a run of bad starts b/c now on a huge world I'm getting so many sites it gives me too big a lead and breaks the whole "battle against the environment not just AI" feel.... So.... play and learn :)

After playing the game for about a 100 hours (addicted) I wanted to post that on Challenging upward the monsters never attack the AI opponents. They will literally have their town made right beside a monster lair and it will have spawned 2-3 monster armies and the monsters will not attack their cities nor their outposts. Ever. I just played a 6 hour "game" where I posted armies around the entire map (large) and watched turn after turn after

Ok - the randomness with which the settlement hexes appear is ridiculous. I will find green fertile plains and there is no place to settle.... it causes constant restarting since one city simply doesn't cut it to survive in this game (nor is it FUN, which is what GAMES are supposed to be about). I get having a certain # of hexes between settlements and having poor terrain giving poor numbers but that is far better than this current random method. <p

I love the game having bought it 3 days ago and already clocking 30 hours or so.... I feel I understand most things except this: I don't get how/why the places you can settle a new city appear? They seem random? The AI will have a chain of cities much closer than I am allowed to place mine. I often will settle my first 3-5 and then there will be a huge gulf of fertile land and desert that never has the #/#/# appea

I want to see magic that turns entire worlds into fertile paradise or black ash... I want magic that strikes incoming armies with swarms of insects and hailstones every turn, making your lands protected against foes b/c the world itself will rise against them..... I want to see magic that changes, transmutes and has a visible impact upon the world around it and upon foes and allies.... I want to see magic that turns shards into pulsating bombs that explode in devastation or a poison s

I really like the idea that the Adventure tech would open a screen where you could pick what resource you need each time you open a new "step" in the tree. Great idea! It would allow a LOT of flexibility and make the game FUN instead of frustrating plus offering flexibility in play styles. Hope SD picks this up!

So is it normal to only be able to build one below average team of 3-men Scouts every 18 turns or so? (1 for the whole Empire b/c that is all the materials I'm making) I didn't realize there was a point in putting cities where there are no resources - I thought this would lead to food issues for minimal resources? I feel like I have these teeny-tiny armies at turn 150 and cities that have to wait forever to build granaries etc. b/c the materials are in tension with building so

Okay, Maybe the problem is I don't know what is "early" game and "mid" game etc. Here is the scenario: Large map, all opponents selected on Hard, notable locations and quests are off, I'm playing Empire, Magnar, w/homegrown Sovereign with Brilliance and Meditation and Royalty. Turns 135 I have 4 cities: 3 level 3 and 1 level 1 I have: 3 gold mines, 1 Iron mine, 1 Fertile (started with), 1 Oasis and 1 Air Shard I have researched Adventure
quoting post I have 4 cities, all level 3. I am making... wait for it.... 2.6 gildar a turn. Between a few soldiers to hold off the hordes (Epic pace, all AIs on Ridiculous, Large Map, Max # of opponents)... WOW I get to build one thing every 50 turns or so.... how FUN. J I had the same problem the first couple of times I played this ga
OP you are doing something wrong. Build your market places. Find gold minds. Making gold in this game is not hard unless Ridiculous mode penalizes you in the gold making department. I've only played on normal mode
Do half of you posting even take the time to read and comprehend what you read? I never said MAKING GOLD WAS TOO HARD in a general sense in the game - i.e. monster farming, notable locations.

You feel like your playing your lil brother? What a troll. Hey, pathetic boy, SD created a great game so if you don't know how to actually get the best value out of it please don't go around trolling and smearing a great game! Tard.

In the thread about city spamming, Raven X makes an excellent suggestion that I believe merits its own thread so the Devs see it. He talks about expanding the ZOC of the cities to much larger areas so that resources are the valuable sought after realities they should be - especially if either a) cities cannot be placed within a large number of hexes near each other or b) level 1 cities only DRAIN resources until level 2 or some such balance to make fewer cities much more the preferenc

Raven X's main reply is fantastic! I hope the DEVS read it! The idea of a much larger ZOC would solve almost all the problems in my opinion especially if outposts only drain resources until level 2 cities. But overall: what he (RavenX) said!
