Maybe the vigilant minion is meant to force the Kingdoms to provide a military which slows their expansion? Then it's not an exploit but a balance?

I have been playing Empire since I got the game. Today I thought I would try a Kingdom. The Kingdom tech tree seems much, much more developed than Empire. Have the devs made any comment on this? Do other players feel they are equal? I'd be interested in people who have played both and their opinions! J
Will someone explain: I research fire dart, fireball etc. but when my sovereign goes to tactical combat I don't get the spell, even though I have full mana??? Bug? Also, no matter what race I select, I don't get to choose life or death book? Is it possible to create a sovereign with Life/Death magic ? Finally, I wonder if the Empire Tech tree was really thought out? I am playing the Kingdom for the first time and it seems much, much more developed than Empire
Just played 250 turns on a large map with all possible opponents (all Kingdoms/Empires) as an Empire w/Magnar Race with locations/quests turned OFF on Hard with Normal pacing. 1) Why can't we pick death magic in Sovereign creation? I like playing as Fallen but it seems silly to be unable to pick this? 2) If location/quests are turned off is the game still playable? I don't like too much "randomness" in my game. I ask if it is playable because #2 leads to #3..
I don't think people are protecting them - anyone can come here and read and realize what is happening. Hell, the CEO is admitting it. I have had 5 friends (all of who make far less than me) ask me if they should buy it. I've told them to wait until either 1) a boxed expansion combined with game (some don't like digital download) or to wait for a later digital download. I ache to tell them that b/c I know SD needs the revenue - but they don't have the liquid cash t
Really? Hm. Let's take apart your logic, Soliddoucheboy. I downloaded the game. Paid money for it. I then realized it wasn't anywhere near playable. Knowing that this would hurt the company's bottom line (which affects real human beings) I then took out my credit card and bought the LE to send money to the company - i.e. gave money. You: bought the game, feel offended, post shit comments that have nothing to do with any reality and then ca
No Solidsmooky, people respond because you are clearly an asshole. To make light of someone's firing and taking a potshot at Brad who has just admitted it was his responsibility is just immature as hell. You're a douche masquerading as a human being.
Brad, I bought the LE knowing it wasn't going to be what I expected in the long run. I have NEVER bought a LE (consider them rips) and simply did it as a way to send money. You just made me feel good about doing so. Your honesty in an age of corporate bullshit is refreshing. My heart goes out to those affected and, with polish, I hope sales go up enough to re-hire. Thank you for always saying what is real versus what you hope people wi
I totally agree with OP. It is ridiculous, ludicrous and most of all: NOT FUN!!!! I bought this to play a strategic war game - not a monster-fest Diablo clone layered on top of said wargame. Reduce the monsters DRASTICALLY! My hope is the devs will listen or set up an options screen like in GalCiv2 for events/monsters etc.
Just as the title line asks? Bug? Anyone noted this?
When you research warfare and get new weapons and defenses - I understand how to do it if you create a new unit (like GalCiv2 when you put new weapons on a space ship) but is there a way to retro-fit all your existing peasants etc? Seems silly if you cannot.
Not going to put these in any particular order, a few are simply compliments but most are game-balance issues: (Game played on large map with all opponents set on hard, with max number of kingdoms/empires) 1) I like thow the terrain changes and the forests become shadow forests etc - good job! I also like how the cities feel alive and sprawl... 2) Way too little gold! I don't understand the decision to have all buildings add % instead of simply addin
Sythion, I usually lurk. But you, sir, are a troll.
Ergh - that is disturbing to hear. I hope they get a handle on that part fast - the whole game is about empire expansion so if there is no expansion there is no game.
Occasionally, when creating a new building in a city, I can place it 2 or more times. Other times I click the starting labor pit, place one and then I cannot build any more. Is this somehow based on terrain or some other unexplained aspect of the game? Am I supposed to only be able to place one? Another question: when I find something like a short sword - does my sovereign (or whatever champion finds it) automatically equip it? Another question: How do you
I don't want a huge map with no resources. I want a huge map with limited resources. Still not sure what jscott means by "wasted space" since my large maps seem clogged with resources and AI.
Would like huge maps. Also would like a LOT less resources - esp. things like Lost Libraries. If there were only 2 LL on the whole world it would make them precious and worth sending an army for. Would like resources to be a major source of war.
You must have a lot of time on your hands..... I mean: a lot. :)
There seem to be a lot of resources in this game.... a.... LOT. I have mines oozing out my pores and everywhere I look are resources that have yet to be claimed.... it makes it all feel a bit boring. Would it be possible to add a feature at the beginning that would set resource availability? I don't know anything about programming so didn't know if this would be a huge major change or feasible? At the very least it would be nice if a patch reduced resources by ab
I liked this post. I don't think it is negative - just frank and real. Thanks for a detailed, honest evaluation. I'm not as far into playing the game as you but resonated with quite a bit of what you said - although I like it and have faith SD will make good. Hopefully by pursuing end option 3 :) J
Normally I want games in a complete, finished state. I rarely accept the explanation that it will be polished in months and years ahead b/c I count every dollar (on a strict budget) and want bang for my buck. I'm over 40. I've never (never!) paid for a special collector's edition as I usually find them to have a few meaningless bells and whistles that soon head out to the garage or trash. With Elemental I broke both rules. Why? Because I have Twilight o
It is hard to know what improvements to make when I don't know how big a city can be? (In GalCiv2 you saw how many tiles the planet could support right away) Your city's "influence" seems to expand and allow more tiles - but what is the max? Thanks. J
I like playing on the largest maps available and so am playing a large map with 2 AI opponents as my initial foray into the game. After about 100-150 turns I haven't met any AI units and assumed it was b/c they were far away or on other continents with no boat technology yet.... But I saw a post where someone said that in 400+ turns the AI still only had 1 (ONE!) city each (EACH!) Are others experiencing this or does the AI expand? I'm hoping there is a mist
Wait - I don't understand - your AI opponents haven't expanded at all???? I hope this isn't true!?!? I am playing on a large map and hadn't met any AI after about 100 turns and was assuming it was b/c they were elsewhere on other continents... (just 2 opponents) ????
I love the aesthetic of the game. I like the map, the feel, the "look" - I like the tech/spell descriptions etc. The game is immersive in this regard and draws me in - I like it much better than a bright real-world looking land.... I feel like I'm in a fantasy realm with this game. I am having fun so far - I enjoy the city development and how you can manipulate units with equipment etc. to such a large degree - that is excellent in my opinion! The pace in my firs
