Let's give each other a big hug because the 1.11 AI is better than all previous AIs. Unfortunately, the AI still won't attack you when it declares war, still sends unprotected pioneers out all over the place, still doesn't group their armies well, makes questionable choices when building cities and troops and upgrades, leaves its sovereign vulnerable to attack, does not do tactical battles well (not Brad's fault), demands money when its get

I feel sorry for the moderators, they're going to have to read through all submissions AND edits we make to the quests. That's a lot of reading compared to the relatively short spell descriptions.
This sure is in the right forum.
I feel like Secret of Mana has undeservedly been overshadowed by Chrono Trigger. It deserves some recognition as well.
Edit: Ah, never mind... it'd probably just start a boring flame war anyway
Good call. Quite coherent.
It's not enjoyable (as per your description) yet. Wait until next big patch and check back then.
So basically for now Jon will work on the engine's modding capabilities, which directly affect Elemental and the next game in line which will be created with the same engine. If I understood right.
I'm not surprised you're an atheist given your lack of coherent thought.
That's the weirdest correlation I've read in a while.
You called? What's up. EDIT: Sorry for all the bad jokes I've been posting today. It's one of those days.
On ridiculous you need to press the button 50 times within one second to win.
mriguy, the whole post was a joke. Jon will work on expanding the modability of the game. He's the "mod-czar" Brad was talking about. Derek Paxton (Kael) is the project manager.
Are you a real dog? [e digicons]:omg:[/e]
Let me tell you guys something that has come up a LOT internally
Thanks for sharing that. I guess that then makes Elemental's release essentially a coming of age of SD's game studio. It'll be interesting to see if we can see a clear difference as users into how SD games shape up after these events. I'll be really interested to hear the GDC talk.
Xia, as nice of a generalization that is to geeks worldwide, I have to disagree. Geeks can be quite selfish and unfriendly as well. I suggest you study a bit about the history of inventions and science and see the amount of backstabbing and feuds going on in the academic community.
Interesting point. I hope I'll be too busy playing Elemental to even come to the forums of the next game until it too is in good shape.
Some people blame Shafer for 'dumbing down' Civilization, but to me it's pretty clear he's an excellent programmer and developer. Civ V has loads of really ingenious features and solutions to things Elemental could learn from. Paired with Brad & Derek & the rest of the team, I'm very confident they'll be able to create something awesome. Welcome to the community! :)
Now that the dust from the release shenanigans has settled, some progress has been made and all sorts of exciting things have happened, I have come to the conclusion that releasing the game that early was a good thing. Now, we all know that the game was in pretty bad shape and it wasn't intentional at all. Considering all this, I started thinking how the end of the year would've shaped out if Elemental was still in Beta, officially. We don't know of Derek Paxton (Kael) would've been h
Based on Jon Shafer's Tweet: "On the other hand, you'll find out what I'll be up to very soon." I'm starting to wonder if it could actually be true that he's joining SD. It all fits so conveniently together.
.. so when are we going to know who the new three guys are? I wanna know! Please!
EDIT: Didn't notice page 2.
As I have mentioned before, it would be very nice to have the automatic combat button allow you to watch the combat play out and allow you to stop auto combat and give new orders or cast new spells as needed. I dont like that I have to manually control the entire fight or hit auto combat and have no control at all.
I would very much like this as well. Kind of to allow you to fast forward parts of battles that you are confident
Glad to hear that you've been able to find three good people to join the team. Finding the right people to any job is such a difficult task. One of the most important skills of anyone working in a management position.
I think SD has said that the whole tactical combat is getting overhauled. The new system is supposedly completely different to the one we have now, so I'll refrain from giving out suggestions before I know what kind of combat we're going to have.
GW, exactly.
Sounds good to me, but the devs have long seemed slightly averse to keyboard stuff. I'm still pining for the Keyboard tab that was briefly available in Options for some of the betas.
I wouldn't mind having a button in the UI that would do this, instead of a keyboard stroke. Slightly off-topic, but I wouldn't mind there being some sort of a transition animation when the world turns into a cloth ma
Exactly. When you want to use the cloth map, you usually want to have it zoomed in pretty close. But you also want to zoom out in the normal view at times, so the current system isn't useful at all. I really hope this gets fixed eventually, at least as an option to have the map appear manually, not automatically.
