I'm reading a lot of contradictory information between big-name news organizations like USA Today, Reuters, etc. Some state Lucas is selling the company and franchise after Episode VII, others say its been sold and from that, Disney is making VII.

On the tactical battles portion, I kinda agree with the critics there isn't a lot of variety. Positioning importance is a bit too simplified IMO, as archers have unlimited range on the tactical battle, a few spells or equipment like Throwing Knives have some limited range. I think ranged combat needs more variety ... maybe heavier-damage ranged weapons that have shorter range, suppression fire that can reduce the attack strength of their target, maybe crossfire when attacking
Is it just the .exe that changes? None of the other data files with the game?
Is there a way to have a dual Enchantress installation, so I could try your private build but still preserve the latest official release (1.00 at this point, hopefully 1.01 coming soon!)?
They really need to look at this. I downloaded the game a few days ago and been playing and it's just infuriating early game when your hero dies and gets a horrible injury. I basically ragequit or reload at that point. Of the weak early enemies, wolf packs seem to be the worst enemies that can just gib a unit on you because they cast berserk and then run across the map and smash the same unit.
Wolves don't
I've had issues with mouse pointer imprecision since GalCiv II. Trying to place a space station while zoomed out in GC2 was an exercise in frustration. Stardock is certainly not alone ... I used to dabble in 'pixel art' using a paint program called Paint Shop Pro and companion software called Animation Shop ... later versions of the softare, especially after Paint Shop Pro version 7, lost mouse-pointer precision and behaved inconsistently trying to paint individual pix
When it comes to making a commercial product, strong effort without a matchingly strong result counts for squat. How much of an effort Stardock made into making Elemental: Fallen Enchantress is, unfortunately, irrelevant to the question of how 'good' of a game resulted from that effort. I have been a loyal customer of Stardock since the original Galactic Civilizations. Brad is certainly a lot more sharing of what he's working on and what's going on th
if integers are used. You mean natural numbers, not integers. It can be explained, if the developers has decided that some features take away essence, i.e. rivers washing essence off. I have not really looked into it, because I stopped re-rolling my starts, and because of playing at difficulties where you do not pick and choose your spots, you settle what you can, where you can - i.e. I will usually settle two materials+forest
Its been explained in several threads that the resources for a tile are a summation of the resources in the adjacent 8 tiles. If this were true, then every one-tile source of a resource would generate a 3x3 grid. While there seems to be a 2 resource minimum for grain or material to show up, this does not seem to be the case for
Snyder49 it makes sense if you think of it this way. I think I remember it right. The numbers stated on a tile shows the total of that tile and the eight surrounding tiles grain, materials and essence letting you know what a city built on that tile would get. They also put a limited the titles available to be settled to 2+ grain. Nakisisa
I've heard this stated a number of times,
I've heard but can't confirm purchasers in 2011 could at least get a discount on FE ... been trying to hunt for it but, hey, that's the paid Stardock reps' jobs to dish out the official info, heh.
Pretty negative through and through: Despite some effective scene-setting at the opening of a new game and paragraphs of charmingly needless flavour text scattered throughout, Fallen Enchantress never inspired me. I didn’t feel a sense of struggle or purpose, and that’s mostly due to the disconnect between so many of the game’s features. It might seem odd to complain about a game that’s a construction of disparate systems short
"... The middle and late game come together beautifully, but at the cost of a fair and entertaining beginning. Fortunately, Fallen Enchantress is not just a strategy game. It is a fantasy strategy RPG that, by its conclusion, does feel fantastical. Magic is devastating (where it was once puny), heroes are demigods, and your forces do battle across the blasted landscape with huge armies and towering dragons. The world doesn't feel tamed or conquered b
Monsters frequently destroy my outposts. :( Always seem to ignore AI outposts, though ... I'll see unaffiliated dragons meander around other AI outposts and not bother with them. :/
Unfortunately, your city only acquires the Grain, Material and Essence materials on the exact tile you place the city. No matter how many resources are in the other tiles your city encompasses through border expansions, your city cannot use any of those other resources, only those of the starting tile. If your starting tile contains no essence, then unless your faction can build the Enchanting pool, your city will never have essence.
In a previous post, I requested help finding a free screen recorder so that I could record tutorial videos for Elemental: Fallen Enchantress. I've been trying to experiment with now 3 different screen capture programs including CamStudio, WinCapture Editor and now Microsoft Expression Encoder. I tried CamStudio first, and the result was terrible with only about 1 frame per second of video output, way too jarring. I had issues with WinCapture as well, then tried goi
Its a friendly city, so you can't conquer it. You can buy things from the shop when you are near it.
Fallen Enchantress is the type of game that most people have a good idea about whether or not they’ll enjoy it before they even play it. For fans of turn based strategy and 4X games, this game sticks close enough to the common tropes of the genre while also adding in some fairly significant elements of other genres to make this an interesting game, if nothing else. In my opinion, the RPG elements are an excellent addition to the game, and really help se
Players over-value high-G/M/E resources. Yeah, they're nice, but I have won several games starting with little in the way of the first city's raw resources using Beastlord, which isn't dependent on my starting city having a lot of material to gather a large, powerful army not dependent on research nor training troops.
Did you not read the OP? These are Gamespot's rankings. 7 out of 10 is good. 8 out of 10 would have to be superior, 9 out of 10 exceptional. 10 out of 10 should never get appointed unless a game were completely free, not the slightest typo and it makes you feel you should throw all your game CDs and cartridges out, delete them off your computer and only play that game ever again.
Fallen to #8 today (Sunday). And I disagree that low 70s or 7/10s isn't too good, its pretty darn good. 8s should be rare, 9s very rare and a 10/10 should be virtually impossible.
Tile yields always vanish within 6 tiles of a settled city. Once a city is settled, its tile yield will never reappear, if the city gets destroyed, you cannot settle another one in the exact same spot as it will have no tile yields.
Now its at #5. Brad, what have you done!? Elemental is now crushing XCOM: Enemy Unknown!
Trying to hunt for more reviews, I found this same article copied and pasted to several other supposedly distinct websites. :/
Stardock Entertainment is perhaps one of those video game companies that stays true to its roots and remains consistent with its vision and philosophy. (...) Strategy fans should give Elemental: Fallen Enchantress, along with RPG and fantasy fans as well. This game does cross multiple genres at once and pulls off
