Quoting Alfdaur, reply 73What about if you choose a path, some feats will be canceled out. Like if you choose path of the mage, you won't get strength as an option. This would allow a person to get better pickings in the direction that you want. I hate it that I can't get the elemental-paths that I want with my mage-champion. This. Choices at level-up should really mean something.
Not thi
As for limiting the number of trinkets I was thinking more about paperdoll wise (HOMM or Diablo2 kind) and not just the number.
I hope most people agree that there do need to of some kind of limits in place. .77 was ridiculous. As for paper doll, that would be ideal, and I wish the game had been designed from the ground up with it. But it's a pretty complex system in it's own right to hope
You should definitely post crashes and other info in the beta forum so that we can work directly with you. But this way, we at least get all the good details.
Sorry for being thick, but I'm confused on this issue. In the thread on how to report crashes for FE it says to email the crash dumps to support:
If you run into a problem, like a game crash there will be a file in your \programdata\stard

Forget what I said a couple posts up. I'd rather see level rate increased from what it is now, with the potency of gained levels reduced (fewer HP, less potent bonuses, at least at lower levels). Leveling up and feeling yourself progress is fun. Getting a constant stream of rewards, even small ones, is fun. Getting less levels is less fun. The more you diminish that stream of rewards, the more you erode one of the strongest hooks the game h
Game Mechanics. Factions still feel too similar. Champions need more differentiation.
You know Brad, speaking of #5, I'm noticing as Champions are leveling slower, and achieve lower top levels by the end of game, their bonus progressions might need compressed a bit. I mean, levels are harder to come by, but you still get level ups that are mostly generic bonuses not
Quoting Bingjack, reply 31 The problem here is, we dont have a full range of traditional fantasy battle units , at least in the trained unit sector. So while some races are designed to produce superior melee warriors, and others have the stats for superior rogues or archers, the races with the high INT/Low Physical stats are designed to produce superior...what? It feels like there should be "mage" units, that dont have the versatility or
Right now, I think this game would get an 8/10 review score from most places. I think you're approaching AoW:SM-level, but with a working AI
Only my opinion, of course, but I think that's wildly optimistic. The technical issues alone would torpedo any review scores. Even if it worked perfectly, it's just not firing on all cylinders yet. But the engine is turning ov
Game of Thrones only has Men. You don't need Orcs, Elves, Dwarves and Goblins for the factions to be considered "different". They just need more features that make them effectively different. And calling the factions all Men with different facial features and such could be said of pretty much all fantasy universes. What's the difference between an Elf and a man or a Dwarf and a man or even an Orc and a man. <br /

[edit] Disregard what I said here. For some reason I thought that Mana shield and Mana Blast were Life spells. Large mana pool and mid-high level spell books solve all monster problems. Life magic in particular... <span style="text
Ultimately, this is a low fantasy world, and since you've discarded most of the go-to archetypes, you need to work that much harder to create and differentiate your flavor.
Semantics, but Elemental is neither "Low Fantasy" by the accepted genre definition, nor by the levels of power and magic elements in play, which are profound and abundant. For reference, Lord of the Rings is generally co

I had a game hang situation I uploaded yesterday, but I admit, I'm getting lazy on the crash reporting. It happens so routinely you get kind of numb to it after a while. Beta 2 does seem more stable in general, but I haven't hit a late game scenario yet, which is where performance and stability usually come off the rails. I will try to be better on that. Man, review score aggregates murder kittens. There's some nonsense on that list, but I

I did just find some level-locked quests, so they're there. But so far I haven't actually been able to undertake any quests in the game.

Are you playing version 0.85, or did you nab the newest .86 version? XP payout was bugged in .85 and wouldnt take into account army size, resulting in getting only a fraction of the XP you should have. This was corrected in .86. I'm not having any trouble getting XP in .86 (though admittedly its not the crazy XP rate of .77), as long as I don't group my Champions past the lowest levels.

I voted "good", though I wouldn't say it could stand on it's own as a "good" retail game in the near future. But I'm confident it will get there now. I wasn't always sure I would be. I'm very pleased with the direction it's going, and optimistic about the things you guys are achieving. There's a sound core with a genuine hook now to build on. Obviously there are still lots of issues and opportunities, but .86 reassured me after being
All you need is an earth spell, depending on the type of the chokepoint. Shrug.
It usually takes a minimum of 2-3 applications of -land to carve your way through a hill barrier, assuming you have an earth magic champion (It would be nice to think no spell school or build is mandatory). 150 mana is not a paltry sum in the early game, when your mana rate might be +3 a turn. It will require you waiting

The AI must be super aggressive about quests now then. I don't think Ive seen any in my .86 game. I haven't seen any high level unlockable ones though either, so it could be a spawning issue. If it's a matter of the AI farming them all, I don't know how it gets powerful enough to handle the "boss" encounter in some of those missions. Most of those were usually way over my head at early level, but the AI is more or less even with me in terms of power.
It's definitely a balance thing. Back in early WOM hills did not have a movement penalty and raise land was only 5 or 10 mana. I routinely cast raise land to speed travel through forests. There are more options later in the magic tree but not that cheap. A grow forest spell would be a nice addition though, high in the earth magic levels.
It can't be too much of a balanc
