I was able to fix this by restarting the client, then starting a new game, at which point all the map details were intact, *then* loading my save game. Prior to that it afflicted all my saves for that current game, not simply the last.

While I was trying to see if I could salvage my save games from the Disappearing Map on Load Bug, I first loaded my most recent save game, then I loaded a much earlier one to see if that one was viable. Upon loading the earlier game, I was researching the tech I was researching from the later game, even though that should not have been available based on my early game's present tech tree (light Weaponry, in this case). I pressed End turn , a

If there is one, I apologize, I havent seen it...just point me at it, and ignore this. But the Beta has been out for a Day, and already there are far too many threads to reasonably expect anyone to keep track of. Something like this would help reduce redundant noise. The game has been testing for a while, so I would have thought the initial beta would have lead off with something like this.

Scanned all the thread titles created thus far, didn't notice anything that directly applied. Don't know if it's a bug or misunderstanding of the system. Noticed that the training time for the starting default scout was listed as 20 turns, compared to 3 turns for the other stock starting units. Made my own scout, upgraded even with a club for a token attack, same move, same stats otherwise, and it only cost 3 turns training time. Thought I'd

I dont think Lack of awareness will be a problem for SD/Elemental. I'm sure there will be a trailer. I doubt you will need 3d glasses to watch it. SD has always thrived on word of mouth. The gaming press loves them. Their customers love them. Because they have only ever gone out of their way to please their customers, and offer them alternatives to mainstream fare, and mainstream way of doing things. People that buy this ga

By the way, getting back on topic, would anyone like to go on record, and try to convince us that you bought Civ 4 because of the *trailer*, and not for the virtue of it being *Civ 4 * ? I want to see gameplay and a feature list in a strategy game trailer...not some cinematic that is completely unrepresentitive of the game experience Ill be having.

I didn't start them myself, only added my own voice to it. I am sure there are people who enjoy the style and think it is just going to get better. That's fine. If I thought the game was going to fail (oops, not using fail as a noun I mean), I would not be here. I do think there is room for criticism and I think its pur
I've read Bingjack post at GC2 for a couple of years (more?). He can get feisty, but on the net-rudeness meter, he's way, way low ranking. Hortz, on the other hand, is a new persona to me, and most everything it has had to say about Elemental has been at best unconstructively feisty and often quite rude. Bingjack's only real failure from my POV is that in another thread he used "fail" as a noun. Ick-poo .
But your constant references to Kings Bounty as a comparison for this game are confusing. Youa are not actually suggesting that Elemental is going to be a completely original game which will have and can have no comparision products and that Stardock wants
Quoting Vicente, reply 18 TBS are niche games, just check their sell numbers compared to FPS or RPGs. It also hurts that TBS games are very hard to port to consoles (so they are constrained to only one platform). I'm pretty sure that King's Bounty: The Legend broke some barriers in that department and tapped into a whole new market, even my 8 year old arcadey nephew liked it a lot. So if Elemental is

Correlation is not causation.
And yet you couch all your arguments from the point of view of the game failing commercialy if it doesnt have millions of dollars in the latest, greatest graphics, fx, animations, and cinematics. You sir, are constructed almost entirely of fail.
To say that games like GalCiv2/Civilization 4 not need to evolve and expand and to box them in their artificially manufactured niche is a ridiculous notion.
But your agenda here on the boards has nothing to do with expanding the game's themselves. It has to do with spending more money on commercials for it, and more limited resources on things that do nothing to enhance the actual game itself.
