Every single setting under the options menu is un-clickable for me, resolution, windowed, AA, sound volumes, etc. So... specifically I'm asking about all of them.
That would be a bug :)
Bingjack
I am able to alter audio and video settings, although video settings often require a restart to take effect. Many gameplay settings are going to be disabled or not implimented yet. Is there a specific setting you were wondering about?
Not really missing anything at this point.
Large portions(most, even) of the game remain unfinished, or exist only as placeholders. This isn't so much a bug as just "not there yet."
There is also google sketch-up which, as I understand, is free and particuarly good for building modeling. In all seriousness Max sucks badly, and I dunno about maya. I think being able to use several different modeling programs would be beneficial. Unfortunately, I don't currently know much about model import pipelines, so I don't know the drawback to just using .obj files, which, as I understand, are pretty standardized.
There was someone else who posted he was having this issue, and disabling his firewall or enabling a process it was blocking fixed it. Maybe the client is trying to "phone home" for datamining. His thread here: A Tip For Those Stuck At Startup Screen
In the files there's a text section near the start that mentions Havok, so it's not just a standard .3DS or something. Definetly an importer/exporter thing. A Blender importer/exporter would be especially nice though.
Not that I even use Blender, (I was hoping for some Valve-esque XSI love), but it could function as a Pipeline hub that is legally available to everyone, regardless of whatever software they
This can be related to some bugs where loading a game is not working correctly. It seems that when a new game is created or a save is loaded the old data is not cleared correctly. This bug can also explain some bugs where for example water appears on dry land - the water belongs to an old game not properly cleared.
Yeah, I made a thread about Tech trees carrying over between saves.
Indeed. Max is fail.
Well, I did just notice this in the final stages of the Beta Schedule:
Beta 5B: Third-party Maya/3D Studio importing beta
So it looks like We might get an exporter for Maya and Max. :/ So much for Stardock not encouraging piracy ;)
happened to me too this time!
Is it because the first time, you loaded those games from within a game that was already working, and this time, you loaded after restarting the program?
Poking through the files, as near as I can tell the 3D assets are in something called .hkb format. What is this, I don't recognize it? Is this proprietary for the engine? It was my understanding that this would be hightly moddable and a bit more open. Is it a matter of providing an exporter? If so, is there any hope of you providing one for anything other than Max? Thank you for any information you're willing to share on this.</p
Yeah, I feel like Im caught in a never ending lag cycle between where I want my units to go, and when I get them there. There's just a basic satisfaction derived from any game, by getting immediate feedback from your commands, but I just seem to fall quickly into some never ending lag in this game whereby my units have no move points for their turn, and I have to wait till the next turn, not remembering where I sent everyone. I *know* it's possibl

Yeah, I dont have any problem saving or seeing the menu screens. I just can't load a game without the map breaking after a restart.
Its hard to imagine this isn't just an early build deficiency, and won't be put in at some point. Scouts auto-looted in Gal Civ.
Anyone else that can verify for me theywere able to reload a game without issue after actually *exiting* the client? I'm losing sleep here trying to troubleshoot this, which would be silly if it was just something that was affecting everyone.
Quoting Bingjack, reply 5 [edit] Actually, I take that back. If you upgrade him you can add the HP boost and a spear for a pretty badass starting scout who moves at the same speed. I am so doing that my next game I was wondering about the 20-turn scout myself, I can't imagine it's a balance thing. If it was something like 6 or 10 turns maybe but 20 is most likely a bug. "That wouldn't hold with conventio
I think that if you use the scout to do what his name implys than the 10 days is appropriate. He can out run almost everyone and pick up treasure spread across the map very quickly. 10 days or whatever it is is a good value for what you can use him for. Be creative with units, they do more than just attack.
That wouldn't hold with convention in this genre. Traditionally early game scout units a
How did you get him to have a speed of 6? When I tried that in my last game, none of the gear raised that stat. Also: Using the scouts gear package adds that gear to the doll but the stats aren't changed to reflect that. The rogues package doesn't even have its graphics implemented yet. (But this was maybe intentionally not implemented yet.)
I simply chose the "upgrade" option for the default scout.

It seems to load fine for me if I load a game when Im already in one thats working without restarting the client.
I think this is where the *dungeons*" will eventually come in.
So, are there actually people out there who *can* load a game successfully, or have many people simply not tried to yet?
Easily confirmed, and the only post I've seen on it. Even if you make a new unit type with just the scout equipment (and thus identical to the default one), it takes 2 turns to build instead of 20. As an aside, probably should've put [Bug] at the start of the topic name.
I don't like to call Bug unless Im sure it's not me just being stupid. Thought maybe there might be some intrinsitc value to
Its really too early. I like a lot of the concepts and potential, but it's not really *likeable* as a playable game at this point. Which is precisely the way they said it would be. They were up front about this. I like the direction a lot of things seem headed, but it'll be a while before we get a build I can really tell about. For instance, I hate the way the game looks, but they said we would at this point. I like the concept and the *potential
I was able to fix this by restarting the client, then starting a new game, at which point all the map details were intact, *then* loading my save game. Prior to that it afflicted all my saves for that current game, not simply the last.
It should be noted though, that this screws up your Tech/Research, as it seems to inherit the availiable tech from the first game you just started.
