Starcraft never had a commander unit. It always had lots of little units. The idea that your Sovereign is so powerful is something to consider. He CAN walk through just about any defense you can build very quickly early in the game. If this was Starcraft, you could also build lots of little units and stop the assault. In this scenario, you can only hold back your commander or somehow gate him to the city to defend it as all other units are inferi

I get the odd feeling our job as testers is done and our job as players is about to begin. :)
It's great fun for sure. My only complaint, you really can't defend your own city without the sovereign for many, many rounds.
How much damage can you actually do in the first 50 turns of the game? A LOT OF DAMAGE. How about owning 5+ cities and 2 of them opposing forces capitals? Just in case you haven't done this yet - I was quite surprised at the vulnerability of all the starter towns within the first 50+ turns of the game. So much so, it became apparent the only way to protect your town is to keep the sovereign in it. Bec
I find the cloth map much easier to use too but love the look of the 3d art style. maybe a setting to allow icon overlay on the 3d map or some other way to make the goodies stand out. maybe a key to toggle between the icons/identifiers to allow you to highlight them if needed.
Awesome idea!
It's good to know I'm not alone on this but also, kind of scary to think all this work goes into the graphics of the game and spell abilities etc etc. Down the road, perhaps all spell style abilities and graphical flare can still happen on the cloth map. Or a really dumbed down colorful 2d look instead of the 3d terrain as an option. Not sure. I only know that, the cloth map is where I spend a lot of time and - it's pretty boring after a while? hmm... Use
I guess this is a poll of sorts. I still play this game on the cloth map 90% of the time. There isn't a good reason to play off the cloth map, the special areas are quick to pinpoint from a distance and you get a better tactical feel. (for the most part) It makes me wonder how many others play the vast majority of Elemental on the cloth map. ?? -AceQ
Ahh thank you. I wasn't sure if it was my setup or perhaps the game. I'm going to download it to the secondary drive from now on.
I have a SDD primary/boot drive, it's a small one at 30gb but Windows 7 absolutely loves it. Applications open near instantly. The Page file is obviously on the secondary drive. Has anyone run this configuration? Do you load your games on that smaller OS/App drive? Just curious. -AceQ

This risks your spouse running off and might cause loss of prestige in your capital. The lower your charisma, the higher the risk.
Just noticed and had a good laugh about it. Not disrespecting the game, just poking fun at a funny attribute of it.
So, does it bother anyone else that you can find a great woman, marry her on the spot, send her to your home city to live peacefully and then... She starts hooking on the streets and pumping out 'our' kids while you are protecting the frigging realm from hellish fiends and renegade wizards in the underworld? I mean, hey toots, I know it's been a while but what the hell? You've gained a solid 50 stones and why do I have 2 sons and a daughter to marry off all of a sudden? &n

Why are spells different? If combining shards to
@Reianor - we clearly just have a difference of opinion on this. By your logic, why even bother having to learn spells at all? We could just spend all arcane knowledge "leveling up" the spell books. Then get all the known spells for each level of each respective book we choose/find. The only limiting factor on use would be by shard/essence/mana requirements. That's certainly an mechanic I've seen implemented before, and I'd be

However, what I am not in favor of is simply taking the single player stuff and making it MP. I'd rather add more modes later like a dedicated Arena mode and such. That's perfectly reasonable, but until you have all those other things leave tactical battles on in MP.
<
Elemental has multiplayer. To ensure that it is robust, we basically threw money at the problem (i.e. set up servers around the world to just host the game) rather than monkey around with trying to get players to connect with one another. However, Elemental IS a single player game that happens to have multiplayer. Out of the box, Elemental’s multiplayer will be essentially skirmish on fixed maps that have been pre-balanced (i.
