If you increase resource yields slightly then you can nab a good spot with access to a forest, and it may open up more tile choices. Also, in ElementalDefs you can change MinValidTotalTileYield to something lower than 7. Myself, I've gone the other way, increased it to 8 and messed around with the resource yields. Because I love more resources, and so does the AI. ;)

If I have a complaint about the diplomacy in FE it's that things got too predictable. When I see that the AI has a larger military force and a dialogue box comes up saying that war has been declared, I want to reply back 'Well this is a cliché.' Otherwise, even if the AI should be my mortal enemy, it makes all sort of offerings during times of peace. Hopefully, the changes to diplomacy will tend to colour your future relations with the blood spilled in the

I don't know what you find annoying, personally I get a little vexed that I have to use GIMP (or Paint) and my web browser (or Trillian) each time I want to post a screenshot of what I'm doing. And if I want to upload a high-quality screenshot to my own web space, then I just have to throw an FTP client in there. It's a smegging screenshot, why do I need so many programs to get it out there?

I'm not very enthused about the move to Steam either. When it works (which is usually) it's great, if there's a problem and you have to uninstall it, it is a total pain. And yes, the auto-update makes me want to scream sometimes. Then there's the great divide in the community between people who use Steam forums and those who use Stardock forums - I didn't even know there was a Steam forum for GalCiv 2 until very recently.

Looks good! Although if you have the misfortune to pick light tan as a faction colour, it doesn't seem to show up very strongly on the leather armour, which is itself light tan in colour.

Hmm, okay. I guess I'll have to get into a tactical battle to see if it appears. Nope. No such luck. :P Going to try something then. Yep. Made a map with the quest dungeon, set it to not be a special ability, then it shows up. Hurrah.

Hmm, I usually always space my troops out so there's a big zone of control in front of my sov. I don't know if killing units that are creating a zone of control is part of the tactical AI.

Actually, I'm not so sure that the trend necessarily indicates Stardock is doing worse. You have tried a number of genres, and you've had to learn some new things along the way. Not sticking to a formulaic franchise means that the games you come up with are fresh. What you also need to factor in is the post-release support of those games which makes those games better by spades by listening to the players. You need to consider that those scores are averages (

So I was exploring the Pits of Namtur with my small adventuring party and I come across a group of Umberdroth and other nasty things. Lucky for me, I had an escape scroll handy and got out of there with just one hero down. Bummer, I thought, now I have to get that guy an Iru Elixir. Lucky for me, one of my other heroes exploring on the other side of the map found one under a statue or something. Now I'm thinking I want a sandwich. [e digicons]<_<[/e

Scouts I actually use quite a bit on large maps. They have the advantage of being able to move at a normal rate across much of the terrain, while heroes cannot. True, they can't pick up any loot or start any quests, but they can find places for your pioneers to run to quite quickly. And you can build as many of them as you like (bearing in mind you still have to pay them) and they're um, disposable. If a scout dies to a bunch of wolves, who cares, but if your
