Basically as the title says. If I scroll the main map so that the fortress tile of the city is straddling the bottom of the screen, I see the corner of a black square. Scroll the main map back, it turns into a fortress again. Nothing serious really, but I don't remember this happening in 1.2 at all.

I've started a game of 1.3 and so far it's looking good.
Put it this way, those of us who pay for the game get to look forward to games that have a tight development budget because of all the people who didn't pay. If you're pirating games, you're basically poisoning the well so nobody will see a game produced on a decent budget.
When someone with the right talent is hired on by Stardock, then multiplayer will get a look. It's no good throwing the job at just anyone, unless you want the cries of OMG Multi to be swiftly replaced with Out of Sync Frakked My Life or similar.
Well see reply 23, you could literally yell 'OMG Take My Money' and it wouldn't make any difference unless the talent is in place.
Yes, you need Steam to update. When the update is released the topic will be updated, so just keep checking back. :)
Making leather armour or something like that available for sov customisation can be done, but since it already exists in CoreArmor.xml, every time you start the game the modded armour would be overriden, meaning it would be not available. That's why I suggested copying an existing item and giving it a new internal name - so that it is a new item which can't be overriden by the core game data. You can alter CoreArmour.xml directly but then it will get overwritten in a fut
Um, if you notice, there is a fairly limited number of items available for sov customisation. These items have to show up only on that screen, nowhere else. The reason why there isn't more variety is because those same steps that I just explained would have to be used to create those items. It is not as simple as just flicking a number to 1. If you don't want to be pigeonholed (and after 300 hours of playing, you probably want some variety) then I highly reco
Air Elementals got retextured/remodeled. Obviously someone at Stardock cares about the quality of the art.
If you don't like your starting equipment, you can open the sovereign's XML file with an editor or even just Notepad and change things around. It is also possible to mod items in for customisation: Copy an entry from CoreItems.xml/CoreWeapons.xml/CoreArmor.xml and paste into a new file. For example, the Amulet of Flames starts with this: and ends with this: Yo
If you think about it, the game is tied to your Steam account and you have to log into Steam to play (so far as I know). Logging into Steam with a new computer may mean you have to do a verification first (they will send you this by e-mail) but that's it.
If you want to customise your very own hero but you just want the gear and stats from one of the stock heroes, do a Ctrl-F (Find) in CoreUnits.xml, highlight from to and copy, then paste into Notepad. Design the look of the hero as a sovereign in-game, exit the game, open that file and copy just the parts which relate to appearance, paste over the appearance section in your new hero file and save as before with an XML extension. It wouldn&#
If it's +1 attack per unit and you have seven units in a company, isn't that +7 to Attack? Or is it just +1 regardless of size?
I suppose that it is possible to whip together some sort of basic hero creator utility but honestly, you don't need an instruction manual to go poking in some XML files. For the visual customisation part you can even use the in-game sovereign creator and then (with some minor editing in the XML file) switch them over to Champion when you're done. Once you've done this a few times and got it to work, it isn't very hard. Would I like to be able to do it in-ga
Um, you can totally design your own hero units. Copy this, paste into Notepad, save with file extension XML in your mods folder and boom, you have a rockin' Mord-Sith on your side. Unless you're playing as Empire, then you've just given the enemy a rockin' Mord-Sith. Champion <br /
Another idea to add to the pile. Rather than distributing the XP across the whole army for every battle, give it to the unit (be it troops or a hero) which needs it most (in order to gain a level). If need be, add a button in the victory screen to allow manual distribution. That way, instead of every unit levelling slowly, by default one of them is quickly brought up to the same grade as the rest of the army.
Okay well here's a thought. The fame requirement to gain heroes should scale according to the pace you have set for production in the options. Meaning that you shouldn't be swimming in heroes when you haven't yet got enough troops for them to all lead an army.
I would prefer that heroes get performance-related XP, for using tactical debuffs and healing troops as well as doing straight-up damage. A hero that just sits on the back line doing nothing should get zero XP.
Steam's game updater isn't very informative. It doesn't say 'Your preferences have been reset' it just fires up the game and has me deal with it. Which likely as not means having to restart the game to alter, for example, the AA setting. Tell you what, I'll just not bother. I'll go play something which doesn't require so much hoop-jumping. I know that must seem such a petty nitpick and prefs resets don't happen that
It's because it has the Soldier's Cloak equipped by default, which now provides +10 Spell Resist and needs one crystal in the unit design. Haven't checked the other scout designs.
Also, woosh, 0.85 is upon us. :)
Something that I feel could be improved on is the AI's response to a difficult world environment. It really needs to prioritise building a fortress when many of the units it will fight against will be a higher level, both for the sheer capability to crank units but also for improved unit quality.
You know, honestly, I have fired up an .80 game but I have never even thought to check the tech tree to see how Warhorses have changed. Bee arr bee! So Warhorses get +1 Physical Attack. That's kind of worth it, I guess.
It is difficult to engage with a viewpoint which is negative and hostile. It is especially difficult to keep doing that week after week. So you have two choices. Keep going with the outpouring of negativity and watch a human being just trying to do his job go away and take more frequent breathers from it. Or seriously dial back the negative vibe. Supporting a developer is not being a fanboy. It's about helping them to do what they do, which is a tou
Heroes differ from rank and file units in being able to use all manner of looted equipment, which often exceeds what you can find at the shop. They also can't die, receiving only an injury when defeated. While it is true that the rank and file troops often do the majority of the damage, heroes are more versatile, they can gain new traits and even change equipping before a fight.
