they had this mechanic in galciv2. sometimes you would get the morality choices. in this context you would get experience for your stay at home sovereign.
Stmorpheus
yep good idea.
on the multiplayer side of things in the beta will i be able to choose who i play against? i have a friend who preordered the game recently and i was hoping to play with him. is it possible for me to invite him to a game or have him connect to me? also will we be able to add ai's and whatnot? such as me and him against a few AI's?
i think the map looks good, if not terribly creative. which is fine i suppose, and i think the single player campaign is gonna rock. i can't wait to get my hands on that.
I have seen no evidence of mercenary armies in the game. Where did you get this idea?
well i sort of made it up to fit along side the proposed idea of using just the civ tech. your gonna hve to make a few new features uop if they were gonna add this huge feature.
Quoting Tridus, reply 6How in the world would you be able to win a game with no troops, no magic, no adventurers, and no diplomats? Sure, you might have the greatest farms in the world... which don't do you a lot of good if you can't trade with anyone or defend yourself against anyone that wants it. Yes, you can. If there is a Victory condition for being the most populous, and your starting location is an island al
Just a little (maybe ) question, will we be able to just have a few AI's play against each other and see how / why they decide to do the things they do? That could make for an interesting new game, have people try to develop an AI that can beat the others, could even become a tournament, let the best AI win and become self aware... Ok, that last part may be a bit too much
yeah i second this.&nb
well, like many games you would have a goal. each type of society would have an ultimate goal that once accomplished then you win. I like this idea, but it seems to me that by going the route of a single society type would overpower a person who is balancing. because if you balance then you wouldn't get these uber bonuses.
no, not for me i vote against it. i want elemental to be more serious. if modders want to do it, then great, but not in the stock game.
i don't know, do champions die of old age? if so, i am not sure i want to invest much of my finite essence into one. i need to see the time mechanic more.
Great! its gonna come right before school is out for a couple weeks. great timing guys(atleast for me)!
well there are dragons. can dragons not fly in the game? surely so.
not necessarily Tridus, if the game has a wide assortment of spells, then there could be many very useful spells. i know that if this idea were implemented then i wouldn't have all my champions just having combat spells. i would have some champions that are useful in administration. i would give these champions spells that improve output to the various buildings i own(like mines, farms etc). then i would have special combat champions tha
yeah i agree with this, i think that EVERY strategy should have a counter strategy. this is something i think could be learned from magic the gathering card game. there should be near limitless counters as long as you can support them, magic or not.
i have to concur with malex. if its that rare and special we need a color that pops.
What about do something similar to Master of Magic and have some spells that take more than 1 turn to complete. for instance, that volcano spell. you cast it on a tile. it takes 3 turns to complete. round 1: smoke issues from the ground obscuring vision a bit. round 2: lava begins to form on the surface. any units here take x a
i asked this in another thread but i think its more appropriate here. will you be able to get special technologies that can only be found by doing quests? such as going down into a deep dark dungeon only to stumble upon an old dusty library that has a book on X?
so does this mean that we might find some special technologies from quests as well?
excellent! i am so excited!
nope, i think that champions should have access to every spell, but they should only have a small pool of spells that can use at any one time. i really think something needs to be done to address the champions individuality. this helps.
yeah i agree, how else are we suppose to have the underdark for our D&D campaigns?
actually i would prefer that abilities be conferred by the type of weapon a unit uses. such as a spear would have first strike because of its range . while other would be given to a unit because of magic. one of my favorite spells in master of magic was the lycanthropic curse spell the infernal book gave you. i just wished that spell would have taken into account the creature you are casting it on.&n
thats the thing, i think that BOTH sides should have a dropping morale counter. and i think that EACH unit tile should have its own morale. this starts at 100 morale units + leadership number of highest champion present. each full combat turn the morale lowers by 1 point, each time the unit is attacked lowers by 1. spells and other battlefield events lowers OR raises morale. once a unit gets so low, it losses its bonus, then goes into th
yeah i hear what your saying, and while i do want spells of mass destruction(SMD's ha!), i can see where i would be mighty pissed if i had an army of thousands that took me a couple hundred turns to get only to be wiped out by a volcano popping up under them. has to be some kinda check or something.
nice! there no telling whats going to be coming down the pipe years from now.
