Elemental: War of Magic (PC) What Is It? Fantasy strategy game from the makers of Sins of a Solar Empire and Demigod, available today for download via Stardock’s Impulse store. Should You Care? Something to tide you over until Civ V hits next month. I'll bet that folks playing now will be playing Elemental for a very long time and the mods even longer. There is more than enough room in the PC strategy m
When your order is processed teh game will show up in Impulse. Once you see it there you can download and install. Do you see it in Impulse? Are you logged into Impulse with the same email you used to buy Elemental?
What I don't understand is if the early release people are using Gold version, why not just release the gold version to us and just keep working on 0 day release for Tuesday as expect.
It is unlikely that the gold version is actually staged at this point. Stardock has been prepping for Day-0 ever since Gold was shipped off. They would have to roll back to the gold build, release it, then restage the day-0 build for Tuesday. Bad joss in any case.
I read "Klingons" at first. That'd be an interesting Mod. ;)
In muggles' description the word that should have been used was "sheer", not "shear" (unless his size has something to do with haircuts for sheep).
Sure, but you can't say "If someone has power they'll eventually abuse it.. except Brad, who has power but won't abuse it"
Perhaps "likely to" is better than "will" and perhaps "some company" would work better than "someone" because things tend to work better when one person is responsible. The point remains, I think, that a poster's definition of posting something ban-able and an admin's definition can vary.
Frogboy has the power, are you saying sooner or later he'll start closing people's Stardock accounts for disagreeing with him on the forums? I'd bet on it. Was it for good c
But yeah. Don't buy from EA/Bioware. At least not if you have a problem with their business practices (i.e. if you consider it bad form to take away purchases due to moderation gone mad) or plan to use their forums. Well, really, it's more like "Don't buy from EA/Bioware if you plan on being a dick on their forums". 'Cause other than that, everyone's fine
It's a slippery slope. The fact that Stardock is a privately owned company changes things dramatically when it comes to things like this. Let not your heart be troubled; enjoy the game until it becomes quaint when you show your grandkids. :)
I thought this was a post about a mod for Elemental. Moving on.
... I would love it if Stardock made patches to games downloadable for Only Paying Customers so I could save them on my system and back them up for storage for the years to come if I ever do have to move back to a area with no connectivity.
Well then there's gotta be a way we can make it work
There is at least one citizen of Canadia working for Stardock now and there have been others. What's the hold-up? :)
You know what would be great too? If they released the full source code of their older games as well. Right now, the mac and linux game markets are open, and there's next to zero competition. There's a big opportunity there right now.
How would releasing the code (for free) improve competition and what is the the "opportunity" for Stardock? :)
HuMAN is wrong in any case. What about "humyn" and "womyn" to avoid any root (heh . . he said root) word issues?
Also, for your consideration, you'll need Impulse to get updates of Elemental. The game that ships on CD will be 1.0. The game Impulse users will be playing (on day 1) is 1.01 and will have three (?) more weeks of love in it. More love will be delivered via Impulse as time goes on.
I support this only if the AI can use it too. :) All those random crashes at the start of the game . .not so random . . not so crashy. ;)
I played Galciv2 on a viewsonic tabletPC back in the day. Great device.
Not that it isn't a useful app, but plugging it for modding a game when backing up the game files isn't actually required?
True that you could go back to the game default but if you've been working on a mod for ages and it's just gone is a bad thing. Keepsafe mitigates that.
And by extension, if you mess anything up all you have to do is delete the messed up mod file and it'll happily go back to reading the default.
Keepsafe FTW
I really hope those rotation dials have a button or hotkey to adjust the rotation by a single unit. You have no idea how much time I've spent in the shipyard trying to get a widget on one side of the ship to align with a widget on the opposite side of the ship; either the dial would repeatedly overshoot due to the inability to make fine adjustments, or I would discover after half an hour of widget-fiddling that someone made the stupid hardpoints asymmetrical.
I don't recall in G
