Thanks. I think the fact I was on the other end of things has helped. At least here, I have running water, a/c, phones, privacy (although it feels like sometimes too much)....I remember my deployments, they sucked in every way possible and on top of all the misery, you were away from anything/anyone that would make life happy. I think that's why I deal so well, I feel bad for my husband.....it really is worse on the other side.

gosh, now I feel like you guys are making too big a deal about me. You haven't seen me on an off day.....I am a HUGE slob and very lazy when the mood strikes.....but thank you for your vote of confidence

Yeas, this is a girl.....Madeline. Like I mentioned though, I was one of the females that thought pregancy was a terminal illness. I wish the Army and the world in general would remind women that they are not broken! The Army gives out a profile the day you get knocked up and every pregnancy book/exercise video treats you like you are a cripple who should be praised if you can stretch for 5 min twice a week...... <TABLE cellpadding=

Yeah, well.....I hesitate to make a big deal about it because of her mom. I feel as though my only recourse is to never hire her again . I am not sure I want to open the can of worms that will result in a pissed off mom. Her mom knows what happened and that I was not happy. I was treated as though I was the one in the wrong because I was "picking" on her daughter. I don't want to deal with the backlash that will happen if th

So, I am not superwoman by any means, but I find it wonderful that I have only about 3 weeks to go and I am feeling so capable. My last pregnancy was miserable. I believed everything I heard about what pregnant women could do. I bought into the sterotypical idea that to be pregnant was to be incapable of touching your toes or lifting more than 5 lbs. I fol

I finally realized the source of most of my conflicts. I had been concentrating on all the things that I was not allowed to do. That had become my focus. I realized that a life filled with a long list of “don’ts” kills joy. A friend of mine has a t-shirt that reads "I can't....I'm Mormon." That cracks

Thanks, I was really starting to wonder if I was overreacting. It's nice to have feedback....sometimes I wonder if I build up problems in my own mind till they overshadow reality.

Violence, etc should not be tolerated. I agree with that advocating the extermination of Jews or homosexuals and coming up with ways to do so...that should be reported. Add in there the violence aimed at abortion clinics/drs......just because someone doesn't agree with the practice does not make furt

The writer of the article quoted the mom as admitting, "After about four meetings, people stopped showing up with their kids," How many people have to be alienated before the organization can remove a child? It was obviously not working out for the other parents and children. The writer is biased towards the child's situation, there is no mention of what the exact circumstances were, but I would bet he wouldn't mention past problematic incid

was thinking that whilst speech is, for the most part, constitutionally protected, there are some things that are just not a good idea to say. I agree with that statement. There are many examples of that. However, let me play devil's advocate for a split second. This isn't about obvious "hate speech", I'm refering here to random, everyday speech, opinions etc. Too often, I have seen people accused because of an innocent com

A little background to start off..... This last weekend, I decided to go out and enjoy myself before I have another child to bring along. My friends and I are avid (read hopelessly addicted) scrapbookers. We stayed up all night on Friday, eating chocolote and scrapping. It was lots of fun, mildly productive and a good way to spend a Friday without my husba

I'd like the lasiks, but I'm never, NEVER, letting an army doctor near my eyes. i had extensive surgery complements of the Army....while the phobia about Army doctors is usually good to have, in the case of specialists, they tend to have more experience in thier fields than civilians. <BR

Thanks for asking TX......He is in Iraq till April-ish. I have learned not to expect much in the way of a solid timeline so that's the best I can hope for right now. Hopefully he will be able to take R&R in a few weeks when the baby is born. One of the things that has been the greatest asset through the many deployments is the support and concern that others have. It is less frustrating when others survive and understand how I am feeling.

I always suspected, but I guess now it is confirmed....I think having 2 dead cars in front of my house, thinking Walmart is the greatest place for everything, topped with the curbside furniture does make it official. Funny, I never realized going to the store in a paint covered tshirt, old pajama bottoms and flipflops would count against me! Well, i guess it's welcome to the club! <img src="../images/smiles/lol.gif" border=0 ALIGN="absmiddle

My husband and i support Bush.....I'd rathar have a guy who stands up for what he feels is right than someone who changes his mind so often that we have no stability. I don't htink military families will be better off with Kerry in office.....on the field of battle OR at home....

Thanks for sharing that. you are an amazing writer....and you made me cry all over again. You managed to write exactly how I feel everytime my husband leaves again. You are a great example of a military wife......You can do anything.

I'm one of the whiners.....I admit it. But not fjor the reasons you think. I was spoiled. I joined the Army, had my private room at DLI (nicer than some apartments) and then after almost 3 years in joyful, ignorant bliss, I PCSed to Fort Hood. Gone were the days of carpet and nice paint and a private parking space as an E-3, welcome to a shock as I'm hit by the "real Army" Suddenly I am in a room with cockroaches the size of my foo

and i have often felt the same way about soldiers avoiding deployments by getting pregnant....THAT really drives me nuts. Yeah, that bothers me a lot more than other slackers....I may start my own thread just to gripe about that!
