So I finally noticed this post. I was more worried about how bad you were hurt. Mom neglected to point it out quite as clearly as you did here. My love pointed out that for a former master driver trainer, you are a real bonehead. You may have been ABLE to do this 30 years ago, but would you have? If you ever saw one of your troops doing this, you would have ripped them a new one. You would have chewed me up and down if I even looked like I was thinking

I'd feel bad if I was laughing at the time, but since 52 years have passed....I'll laugh without guilt! Great story....and I don't think I'll be eating boiled peanuts!

Nope. You are not too sensitive. I can't stand ignorant people walking around with peace signs who think they are just a fashion statement. I don't like them on kids' clothing and I try to avoid buying anything with them. I didn't live through the 60s but I still know what it represents and the current batch of idiots doesn't care, doesn't know or doesn't give a damn.

So my lurker status is now revoked. I'm actually commenting. I don't know what else to say other than, "This is what I've been saying all week!"....only not as well. When I heard the suggestion that no weapons be allowed within 1000 feet of an elected official, my jaw dropped. The ridiculousness of that idea proves that it's a knee jerk reaction. It's the equivalent of holding up a sign that says, "I (and everyone around me) are defenseless....this is a good pl

I love when you post stories about my love. He has followed your lead on talking to kids like "real" people. (His words) People have been surprised at their conversations with the kids. I think that (and the insane amounts of reading) has had something to do with it.

mmmmmm. Tacos. I love tacos. The only time I liked Taco Bell was when I was pregnant with Connor. The taco bell was right next to the school. I worked from7-5 and had class from 5:30-11. I had tacos every night for a late snack....with about 4 packets of hot sauce on each one. My heartburn was horrible but I couldn't stop.

I'm playing tricks on my kids....I'm actually really excited to initiate them into the AFD traditions. This year I started small. I opened up fruit snacks and filled the bag with baby carrots and then superglued the seal shut. I replaced their juice with jello. HW will be moving them in the middle of the night, so they wake up in different spots. I'll short sheet their beds while they are at school. I am working with my son's teacher and gave her homework for t

But I've had my own second chances myself. I'm always grateful that there are those with the ability to grant leniency...

Yeah, I don't have any desire to cross you! The combo of "Dad voice" and "1SG voice" is enough to remind me to behave! ;)

I remember those days from when I was a kid....and I heard people make the same comment about how much it was costing everyone....it's a shame that that mindset got in the way of a little teambuilding...

You were a great leader and one that I would have liked to work under....I think. I hope i would have been on your good side! It seems that too many leaders forget that leading is more that posturing and braggin...HW had a great leadership that believed that motivating soldiers to work hard and quickly by promising (and keeping it!) time off. Too often, leaders forget that motivating soldiers is more important that trying to look good.

Ha! I like how you described a Yuper's opinion on snow. I'm glad that you are not going out in that stuff anymore. We had just enough snow here to freak everyone out and get 2 half days out of it. Boy is still bouncing around the yard and destroying the last of it!
