Get FE and the FE beta, unless you have a wonky internet connection (the beta uses online activation each time, the retail version won't- standard Stardock policy). I can spend 4 hours of fun on FE at times. I didn't get 4 hours of fun out of WOM in over a year - it was play some, realize the game isn't fun, hear about patch, hope it fixed things, realize it didn't. .913 patch was really when this game started to turn a corner into some

Yeah , DLC is a bad word for me, but these proposals Stardock are putting out- they seem to be more "could we make a profit on doing these unplanned things" over trying to gouge the customer. It makes some sense in here, because most of us are getting FE for free. One concern: I could see this generating bad press for the folks who are paying for this game: "What, I have to pay for Multiplayer? No other company does that, Stardock is p
Does 64-bit DLC mean like say, a $5 DLC that redesigns the game to use what 64-bit provides? Voted yes/yes, but would be price dependent. The game runs really smoothly (outside of bugs/glitches/UI issues) and manages to not overheat my newer laptop. When are you guys going to announce your future plans? Because of this crummy laptop, I may be in the market for a new one this year.
Oh well, you guys have been good so I can wait a week. Last patch for me at least put the game into the very good category. Glad to see it keeps getting better.
Quoting DsRaider, reply 6Wow this patch looks amazing. It will be interesting to see how the no armor trait works out... Since in my experience nothing beats well armored troops. It's definitely a major disadvantage. One of the reason they get spiders is to help them control the battle with webs. They are the least able to go toe to toe with another faction. But they have spells, summons and s
Saw this bug earlier today though didn't get to save it: I win a battle, but one of my champions die ( 2 champ stack) Both of my champs go back to my capital, one gets a wound. Otherwise normal.
1) Upgradable outposts. Each level of outpost increases the strength of army needed to raze them, or the time needed to raze in an outpost's ZOC (unsure which is better) You ever notice how armies have Weak/Medium/Strong/Deadly/Epic? Weak and Medium armies shouldn't be able to raze armies or capture cities without taking some time to do so, and stronger cities should be able to hold out much longer. 2) Siege engine
I knew it. They started developping a nintendo game (8 bit) game: Mortal Kombat 3 - Carebears Kick back
I wonder what Stardock would do with the Mortal Kombat franchise, other then Lord Kona exclusive guest character.
One thing I've learned is that anti-consumer practices don't seriously impact sales, unless you put in a bad game on top of it, or a series of bad games. The only game that has really suffered sales-wise from bad business practices this gen is SFxTK.
Ideas: Right now, the AI is really annoying when it comes to razing, which is a little too easy. Maybe resources should take 2 turns to raze, or an outpost within 2 squares makes razing impossible, you have to take out the outpost first, and razing eats up your movement for the turn? I wouldn't mind siege engines being required to take down a walled city, which you can't get until level 3 city, so it wouldn't wreck the early game
The real issue is whether the monster AI is treating players and enemy AI's the same, and if it does, whether the AI can handle that.
Thanks to companies like Stardock and their good consumer practices, it's easy for me to pretend that D3 just doesn't exist.
The flying units/ships other stuff, Stardock did promise after WOM that some folks would be getting 2 free expansions. Let the folks at Stardock get FE finished, have a few months break, then see about the 2nd XP in 2013-2014. It's more important that FE gives a solid base to work from right now, and that's exactly what it's doing.
I want the two missing sovereigns back, or proper replacements.
Oh, the wall-breaker idea, it was tried in AOW1, it didn't work well there.
I would rather see stronger militia as the game goes on, over an eternal guardian. Tougher cities would mean an emphasis on bigger armies, which would help deal with the annoying large number of small stacks running around problem.
Graceful should give something else in addition to its protection against bash. Bash is pretty rare as is. Brute and those other traits that only work vs weaker/slower creatures are pretty useless as well, never pick those.
I'd scared to do this because of the likelihood of broadband caps in the US.
I thought it was an armor issue, but guess not.
If you have a hand-ful of life shards, you deserve an OP heal spell. At least there isn't a goodie version of corruption out there. It's like Ceresa+ death shards being an near-instant nuke.
If upgraded outposts are put in, how should they be upgraded? Gold cost? Other resources cost? Pioneers? I think techs should unlock militia improvements, which should cost resources: Civ techs might increase the benefit of ZOC. we really do need to reduce pioneer spam.
End games on most 4X's are boring, it's a problem with the genre. Stardock has some mechanics to try and freshen it up some, but they vary in effectiveness. That said, I really wish FE had these things from Warlock -hex system (I prefer it) -catapults that could attack adjacent hexes -the random resource model, we need more cool stuff like pumpkin patches, silver mines, donkeys, etc. It's bloat to a degree
It very likely (I'm pretty sure this has already been announced) will be once the game is released officially.
Stardock used to use pre-orders to set the budget for their games, which is a kind of kickstarter when you think about it. I think if the MP folks really want MP, and they can prove to Stardock that it would be profitable, then they should get it. The big thing holding this game back ATM to me is tactical AI, and MP would provide that, though it would likely need some large modifications to make it work viably.
I'd pay $1 easily. $10 would depend on how many friends like the game (should be most) One suggestion: Kickstarter it and see if you can get the money that way? I don't think a kickstarter for this would be a bad thing. I do see a number of problems with this game in MP potentially though.
