[quote who="JSJ101" reply="173" id="2826444"]I'm also not very keen on turning essence into a boolean. I don't really have a problem with global mana, but without an upper limit on maximum mana usable per turn there's no feeling of a relative scale of power (intelligence restrictions aside). Even a very intelligent Joe the Farmer who I've recruited and imbued shouldn't be able to channel anywhere near as much mana a turn as my sovereign without lots of experience. Other than this, I'm pretty

It would make sense for Impulse to copy Valve's report a bug feature that Steam uses in Valve's games.
What I meant with my earlier post is it could learn build orders, sneaky tactics, and other stuff, from humans. Not that it would try to do everything from the ground up.
Sorry to ask this again- but why is it not feasible for the AI to learn from the players, and maybe if people play MP or connect to Impulse, other players. You mentioned not doing this in part 1, why is it impractical? An adaptive from game to game AI does seem like it would be the best way to reduce errors, or quickly find gameplay flaws (such as a one optimal solution)
Question: how hard would it be to make an AI that is capable of learning? I think that's the next step in AI, and one that I really want to see someday.
This is not an issue of law, and whether it should be legal or not. This is an issue of whether the punishment fits the crime, which is blatantly does not, thanks to corporate interests.

The reason all those other games have a casting points limit is that it lets you balance much stronger spells against the time to cast them. If I can cast "summon Wolf" in one turn, and "summon Chaos Lord" in one turn... which one do you think I want? With casting point limits, I can summon four Wolves in the same time as one Chaos Lord, and casting anything else slows down that summon furt

Rolling a random number from 1-n with an opposing roll is so so random that it can easily frustrate players. I almost prefer no rolls where everything is predictable. Best melee system I've seen is Warmachine. It has a roll 2d6 roll + combat stat opposing the the defenders defense stat. If hit, damage opposes opponents armor value. This system ha

At least, that's what I think. All posts so far indicate that is not the case, though it SHOULD be. Frogboy has previously stated that essense will be boolean: you have it or you do not.[/quot
Sounds great and worth waiting another week. Some Ideas (many would have to be expansion) Charisma: How about a new stat called Insubordination given to champions. The point value of insubordination for all your champions cannot exceed your sovereign's charisma. Certain magical items can lower insubordination. Another suggestion would be providing a combat bonus to all non-champions in battle on your side. If stats are given to
It's not a holiday for many in the US. Also was announced on Monday when I asked that they would be working today.
It's a beta patch. We're supposed to get the suck out of them.
I think there's a good chance of a beta patch tomorrow. Unsure though.
They do allow transfer, I did it- but there was a bug with the registration on one game (entering in the registration manually, after getting it via automated email solves this) I think that issue is fixed now, just not retroactively.
I don't anyone is expecting 1.1 to be the magic bullet. The first expansion is where I expect the game to get massively better. I'll settle for making me want to play it with 1.1

This is going to be a nice new feature, which everyone will like, but no one will really give notice to since it seems really minor at first glance. Still, it's a good change. The question- will the AI be able to make use of this, and could autoplacement of tiles be set to make use of this? For me, that's the key to how useful this feature will be- though that may take work from Brad as well.
