Hi, I just remembered a critical question which i am desperate for an answer because it is the one thing really driving me crazy in 1.1? I am playing a large map and as my empire starts to grow, i will not remember exactly where all my cities are. When i open the empire tab i can access a list of all my cities which is fantastic, and i can see what each city is building. Now in the case where a city is building a unit but no building, and i want to start constru

For elemental, i have just one word - defense! I think it has much more room for defense in general than anything else. Even plain soldiers should be more resistant to elemental magic attacks if they have a shield - any shield, and lesser resistances for basic armor. But armor could also increase a vulnerability, such as metal armor increasing vulnerability to electrical attacks, but providing some defense against fire, no defence against dark magic but heavy defense against rock sli

Hi all I tried playing the new 1.1 sandbox game and really hated it. Resources are bland and Creatures are all over me right at the start and my flame dart A.K.A Creature killer is gone! Gone!!?? Yea, hating the changes to the magic system in general. Before, you were pretty much forced to use magic frequently just for fun because the units manner got full, but now, with the global manner system, you never want to use magic at all just for fun, only if it is

(You ARE right clicking right? ) I noticed that if I zoom in and out a few times between cloth map mode and 3D mode, it shows up.
I found out it is a delay in updating the map, so when you make changes, they actually can take a number of minutes to show up! I know i can add hills etc but It seems to be the starting locations which i cannot add or delete, they completely ignore everything i try to do?

Hi I have been trying to figure out the map editor recently. It seems the random map generator refuses to generate single continent? Anyway, i am happy to use the saved maps. When i loaded a saved map, it opened with a good number of visible start locations. I tried to delete the ones i did not want but all my clicking had no effect at all, so how? Then the next time i opened the same map for another try, all the start locations are gone or invisible??</
Kingdoms, when sufficiently far into the tree, can produce Gardens in their cities, and Empires can make an equivalent. They give a city 2 food production per turn, which can be modified by irrigation and granaries and such, so you can eventually have cities that aren't quite so reliant on fertile grounds being nearby. It's still a limiting factor, and it's well balanced to prevent things from going to
Population tax is the primary form of income. Like, seriously. Gold mines are rare bonuses. Your population is the most important resource now. To the point that gold is FAR more plentiful than before, but almost everything has an upkeep cost, keeping it somewhat in check. You have to decide not only to grow your population, but how much upkeep you can afford to pay and whether you have enough populat
@Mystikmind ...You do realize that the population of your cities now pay taxes, giving you a direct gold income based on the amount of citizens in the city. That's exactly what you described you wanted, and it's in 1.1.
Sounds fantastic, and for a second i was very exited when i saw it in the description of 1.1, changes. but then as i read further i was a bit confused by the way it is worde

i had a good look through the details of the work done in 1.1, there is allot of effort put in but i did not see anything that excited me to rush off and play the game again? I am hopeful that i will come to appreciate it as i play the game. There is only one thing i would really want to see changed about this game anyway.... what has so far been lacking in this game, is the capacity to build up the wealth of cities (without gold mines) in similar terms to other games s
Mystik the way it seems to work is you have your list on the left hand side and it starts with the unit at the top of the list. If you use all of that persons action points it goes to the next one on the list. Now what has been happening is you pick someone lower on the list, say your rock giant or hero, and cast spells until you run out of action point. While the spell animation is taking place you select the unit that you want to use next.
I love Elemental, but is there any "Galciv2"-style moments, where you're exploring and come across that class 36 or higher planet. Because THAT is a great moment, you know wars will be fought over those planets. It's one of the things that makes GC2 great...Does that kind of thing exist in EWoM? And shards don't really cut it.
when a unit uses all their action points it goes down to the next one on the list, even if you already have another person picked and ready to go. It sounds like you simply selected the wrong unit - which is easy enough to do since there is

I haven't noticed much of the other issues mentioned? Sometimes if i set a movement destination which is further than the unit can immediately travel, the battle screen will freeze, but that problem is easily avoided. I get the delay period with or without mounted units but mounted units do have a slightly longer delay period. What makes the issue so noticeable for archers is that often they do very little damage, so it can take allot of hits to kill an enemy, combine that wit

When it comes to using archers in combat, the first shot is always fine, but subsequent shots are constantly refusing to fire for a period of time. I will be constantly pressing the fire button - click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click and then finally the damn thing fires! Add this effect up across many battles and it begins to grow into a game destroying monster! Is there anything i can do? a
Yes I did, and the trait in game does not equate to royalty and needs to be renamed. They can only marry REAL royalty (meaning the offspring of other sovereigns).
Good point, i have actually wondered why royalty hero units are 'royal' when they have no country?? Perhaps a better name would be 'noblemen' and have it so your children can marry them, just to mix things up a bit.
Because at that point they are expected to marry royalty and achieve high levels of inbreeding.
Now I'm confused, you used the word Royalty correct? letter R, letter O, letter Y, letter A, letter L, letter T, letter Y, spells 'Royalty', a word which can actually be found in the game to describe various hero's in the game - Hero's that your children are still not allowed to marry!! I don't think allegiances, once set for units under your control can change unless they are female and get married?

12 Replies 8,351 Views

Thanks for the replys... It makes sense. But then the problem is that it creates a disincentive to ever using your Leaders magic in combat, preferring to use up the manna of other units first? But at least any units with enough manna for teleport, should not really be with the leader, they should have their own separate group.
What happens to the popultion of a settlement that you Raze?
Well, supposedly the land carries unseen population who join your cities over time creating population growth. Therefore if you raze a city, those people return to the 'unseen multitudes'. I doubt there is any 'actual' effect in the game that would result in increased population growth for nearby cities, so what Lord Xia says is correct.<

Hi I was just wondering why i have 2 teleport spells? I started with custom faction and leader. Also I'm just trying to figure out what circumstances cause the teleport spell that doesn't teleport anything? A number of times i have teleported and the spell executed, used all the mana but the units did not move (how rude using the mana but not moving my units!). I wouldn't mind if the teleport spell simply failed to execute and no manna is wasted, but no, it goes and co

I did not use the kingdom or character creation system at first because i did not know much about it. Then i was reading a description of the elements in the Kingdom/character creation system and there are a number of options that can be taken advantage of! so it is well worth doing, http://www.gamefaqs.com/pc/954860-elemental-war-of-magic/faqs/61009
