I am not sure what Scatter629 meant by "I guess man, has used God as a crutch in most of his journeys". But I know that I am happy to acknowledge that I lean on God more trusting that I would a crutch for the strength I need to face life...He is definitely "My Crutch." He is most faithful to His promises, always good and true. There is nobody I trust more.

Wanderer, you are on a roll! What a great post. You did dig down into your marvelous vocabulary to find visionary words that really shared with us something of what that explosion did to the building and to you. Here is a quote from one of greywar posts that caught my eye and here you have given us an example of it: "Bearers of these arms today include suicidal fanatics, women, and children." When I think of the dangers you brave sold
"Bearers of these arms today include suicidal fanatics, women, and children." When I think of the dangers our brave soldiers are out there facing from every direction, I can't begin to fathom what it must be like to be on a constant lookout for these suicidal fanatics who, in the name of their totally misunderstood God, want to kill anyone who holds a different opinion than theirs. Like David prayed in one of his psalm t
My prayers go with you in this great adventure. I know that you will look to the Lord for guidance and strength to help His little one on her way. God bless you and yours.
Is this Chuck your old pal from Motley?
Whoa! Are you preparing for the likelihood that you might need to operate on some injured person? That is using some great forethought that I truly hope you will never have to use. Any news yet of when you may depart from TX?
Dysmas, You have made some valid points. In my opinion , abortion is murder. Our nation will pay in some way for all the thousands of lives that have been taken away. It is just a natural consequence of evil done. It is not God coming out with his whip to punish...it is a natural consequence of human choices. I pity those who thought they had to abort a child. Unless they are completely without morals, they will suffer many forms of depression, a
Is this the Charlie Brown of greywar's youth?
Take courage, pseudo! God be with you in all things. Kick regrets right out the door. They serve no purpose. My prayers are with you. Happy New Year! If you see greywar, please tell him to read his e-mails and answer them. Will that do any good? Probably not!
Keep dreaming! The hard road may have some unpleasant turns but with your courage you have accomplished much and are very capable of more.
preacherman, Yes, I most definitely believe in the literal, bodily resurrection of Jesus as I look forward because of His resurrection to my own victory of death and sin. Yes, your Gospel reference does refer to Jonah being in the belly of the whale three days and three nights, so will the Son of Man be in the heart of the earth three days and three nights. Whether Jesus actually took the story of Jonah in the whale literall
Maybe the Hobbit in The Return of the King has part of the answer when he says something like "I am miserable to be part of battle but it is much worse to be on the fringe watching."
Preacherman, thanks for the greeting. Yes, I had a good Christmas visiting my son, greywar, who will soon be leaving for Iraq. Yes, I think that is the literary form (metaphor) that is being used here to teach us the truths that we need to live good and upright lives: that is, by always seeking to know God's will and then obeying it with the help of His strengthening grace. If some like to believe that Jonah was really swallowed
I love the Book of Jonah, the story of this reluctant servant or prophet of the Old Testament. Though a chosen prophet, he often thought his ways were better than God’s way. He had such a hard time listening to God. He had his own ideas about whom he should preach to and who deserved to be saved. God told him to go to Ninevah to preach repentance. Jonah hated
In my opinion, it does not have to destroy families. Like facing any other circumstance in our lives, it is all in our attitude. [/B We can choose to let it build up or destroy. Circumstances can make us stronger, more united, more giving than ever before. When we let our circumstances control our lives, we can just get all emotional, irrational, and self-centered. We can choose any number of responses: poutiness, self-pity, bitterness, hatre
As a mother, I can only say that I am proud of my son for volunteering to go to Iraq. After visiting with greywar and EL during Christmas, all I could detect from both of them was a marvelous desire to do their duty wherever it would take them. God be with all who are there to protect us from terrorists. Our heroes do not count the cost, they just do what they enlisted to do.
Another great post, Wanderer! I never have thought of the phrase, "If it be God's Will" in the terms you set forth here. You have a unique insight here. In my somewhat narrow view of the world, I never, never want to do anything that would not be in God's plan for me. I seek His Will in my every prayer no matter how insignificant the choices that lie before me. Thank you for another view of how other people might view this "hollowed
I found your post so interesting that if there were spelling errors, my reading was not bogged down by it. Very insightful!
It is not just you.... the sentences go on and on and on without the wrap.
Aha! I wondered how it happened that you were called to go...you volunteered. I am proud of you too and so is your daughter... I know that for a fact without you ever having to go out of the country.
Oh goody GW...now the whole world knows my past. I am proud of it, however.
I so agree, Poetmom. We are so apt at saying ... "I will be happy when...." I have a new house, (Then I will gripe about having to clean it.) When...I get married...(Then I will nag my husband who won't change to suit my ideas.) When...I go on vacation... (The weather is too hot...too cold...not enough money...) It goes on and on just like the people in the desert. Great Post!
You made a grand trade that will pay off big in the long haul. Good Post!
You may want to tell this story to your grandchildren. They will love it.
When we left MN to go to TX to be with GW for Christmas, the weather was mild with just a dusting of snow on the ground. That is all we have had since the "winter months" started. We had great traveling conditions all the way until we came to the northern border of TX. We had brought along lighter jackets in anticipation of warmer weather. Ha, ha! How iro
