If there is a map item under the end turn button the tooltip for it is displayed. Example, if a wild horses tile is right under it the tooltip displays wild horses. In addition the end turn button does not have a tooltip of it's own. Maybe that is the cause or maybe it is being overriden by the map tooltip.

I just noticed that there is no way get a text description of completed research, only the icons which isn't very helpful. I'm sure this was planned but I thought I would make it an official suggestion in case someone hasn't already.
I researched farming and when I went to build one in my starting town it was not listed. Not saying it was greyed out but was not even on the list. My city was located in the starting position which is right next to fertile land so I see no reason why it shouldn't be listed. My town consistented of 1 workshop, 1 watchtower, 2 gardens, 1 lumber yard and 2 huts. Lumber yard was in progress when farming was researched.
Now that there is an event list I find it hard to tell when things are complete. There really needs to be some notification that there are new events for you to look at. A status bar alert, have the events flash, a popup or something similar.
I picked up a kite shield and when I went to the equipment screen for my sovereign the background was red. I can equip it normally where the background becomes green as intended. When I unequip it though the background becomes greyish (some neutral color). This does not happen with rings I pick. They never display a red background.
Quoting Arthgen, reply 15 Did you just call Age of Wonders a RTS? Have you played it? [...] Not once, but twice. By the gods, Mogmoogle is either a troll or just a gaming illiterate. Either way he is henceforth barred from voicing any opinions dealing with games or gaming.
I have a feeling he means Age of Empires, not Age of Wonders. If that's true you should look up that game as it's a fantasy turn-based gam
What about a rating on the spiders in Elemental?
A three star system wouldn't work for me. I like to know how games compare to each other and 3 stars doesn't leave room for that. Personally 10 points is good to me. 100 is nice if you view it as basically a 10 point system with some padding for saying "this game is great, but not quite a great as ". As for the actual reviews I agree for the most part. Some are just ridiculous. The philosophy I use is to find a few reveiwe
Advisors are a great idea but I still think the first campaign mission or a special tutorial mission should be available. It doesn't need to be too fancy but just enough to get people started and introduce key concepts. You can make your advisors be the tutorial, just offer a little more advise and be a little more aggressive with the suggestions in that special mission.
I didn't realize that was how it was supposed to work. Frankly I would like to see it change. Dex helps you dodge so it should have an immediate effect not be reliant on defense. I shouldn't need to wear plate mail to have my dex matter and in fact wearing heavy armor should probably reduce the effectivness of your dex. Hopefully this is just a placeholder.
Somehow ended up in a state where the end turn button was no longer clickable. I can't think of anything I did to set this off. I had a pioneer selected and was waiting for him to arrive at a horse tile (the one east of the starting location). I believe this may have happened the same turn he spotted a neutral group (Hornswaggle maybe). If it matters he was taking a long route from the south as my city was blocking him. Pretty sure he was in the forest 2 squares
I used the teleport spell (from sovereign) and landed on a goodie hut. Nothing happened. Moving off and then on again worked normally.
When I double click on the wooden kite shield my sovereign found it makes the equipping sound but my defense doesn't change and the E does not appear next to it.
I made a sovereign with a 20 dex but he has 0 defense. I also found a couple of potions that raised it some more but it stayed at 0. I am assuming this is a bug. I also noticed other sovereigns had a 0 defense so I believe this problem is for all sovereigns.
What does Seamanship give you? I have a different post on a similar subject, but I was curious what the Naval System was like.... Are we going to be able to colonize islands, other continent's, etc? Or is everything going to be on 1 landmass? If we are going to have a real naval system can we design our own boats like we do units? EDIT: Quoting Frogboy, reply 15
So how does it compare to the original if you remove the improved visuals? As good, better or worse?
Maybe I'm blind but is there some release notes or something that details the changes? I couldn't find it.
Well you are 1/3 of the way through DA:A so why not finish it? Also it is pretty short, that's what I would do anyway. I would also devote a little time to Distant Worlds because I'm curious if it's any good and looks more original and fresh than the others.
So this looks pretty good but how do we handle a case where we want spears/pikes to have bonuses against cavalry? And since we can have formations what about the ability to attack from the 2nd row? Or like others have mentioned how would I make a life-stealing weapon or a shield that reflects magic? If these are possible then great, I would be fine with this system (though in a perfect world I might make some changes). If not then I really think the system still n
edpfister, is the crash during the loading of the map/units? i have used it at vaious resolutions (640X480 8 bit to 1920X1080 32 bit) on win95,98,xp32 bit and win7 64bit (original discs version with all patches) without any difficulties that could not be tracked to particular units/unit packs. one other thought is there is an issue in the 175.6 nvidia driver (mentioned on the nviia download page) and it might be worth trying a rollback of the video driver. <b
When starting up in the sandbox mode, the player is asked who they are and can design (both in terms of traits as well as visuals) what they are like.
Does that mean we will not be able to create our sovereign for the campaign? I was hoping the customization would also be there for the campaign also, at least to a degree.
Am I the only one who gets a crash to desktop if any resolution is used besides 1024x768? I tried windowed and fullscreen with the same results. I'm using an NVidia 8800 GTS on Vista 32bit (SP2 I think). Maybe I'm the only one still using Vista (upgrading is such a pain)? It would really be nice to boost up the resolution.
Age of wonders had a system similar to that. If a unit entered combat, any unit in an adjacent tile would also enter the tactical map in positions that were relevant to which tile they were coming from. I like this system quite a bit as it actually made the tiles feel connected instead of the usual system where each tile feel totally walled off from the others.
Yes, that was one of the best features of that game. It just felt more realistic and allowed for some in
I don't want to have a million troops crammed into a single square mile. On the other hand, i always felt that having a cap of like 9 units or whatever was kinda silly. If you want to really heap your troops up, you should be able to. The logical counter is the nuke or magical equivalent, as KillzEmAllGod said. Stacks will then have a natural organic cap rather than a hard cap, which is much better to my mind.
I hope magic isn't the only deterent to having only 1 huge a
I played the full Exile series way back when and was disappointed when they basically redid them again. How are the newer ones (Avernum 4, 5 and 6)? I really enjoyed the original series, especially #2. Wouldn't mind playing the newer ones if they are as good, assuming I could find the time that is.
