if you can teleport units by magic, why not items too...
No problem with that but it should be a spell or at least cost mana.
Advisors existed in the previous Civ games and were removed, so bringing those back can't really be an attempt to dumb it down for consoles either.
Is this slated to come out on consoles? That's the first I've heard of that. Usually that is bad news but occasionally it works out. We'll see.

I didn't read through every post but I haven't seen this talked about yet in the couple of pages I did read. One thing that bothers me is that terrain seems to have no effect when it comes to building other than for lumber mills, harbors and special resources. If I plant a city in the middle of a desert or swamp that should have an impact. There should potentially be restrictions, bonuses or negatives applied for the terrain you are building on. Put a lookout on a
So a club does blunt damage, a dagger does piercing damage, etc. But we need to display this in a way that easy to understand for the user so that when they go into battle, these modifiers can be understood.
Nice to hear this is going to be in the game. Last I heard you were against damage types and were only adding the tags for modders to work with. This should make things much more interesting whenever it gets in.
I'm not sure if I feel it's "complicated" but it is tedious. Busy work.
Yeah, the problem for me isn't complexity but tediousness. Personally I think smaller cities with buildings that are more effective would be more interesting. My garden or whatever just produces 1 food (can't remember if that's true or not), make it produce 4 as an example but have fewer city build areas. My individual choices right now don't seem significant enough and I hate bui

Played a decent amount now that I know we are officially caring about balance and features. Game is pretty fun but needs a lot of fleshing out before I know how good it's going to be. Still find myself playing almost entirely on the cloth map ironically. Find it difficult to play zoomed in for the most part as I can't tell what is what. That's how I play most games though so I wouldn't put much weight in that. Sounds like things will be advancing pretty quickly s

Same happened to me and ruined my game. Unfortunately for me my autosave happened right before this and reloading that or the save I made when it happened didn't fix it. This was turn 336 so it was pretty painful (yes I know it's a beta so I'll stop compaining). Just hope this is fixed soon as this is worse than a regular crash. One odd thing I noticed is that when I quit the game I had a unit training dialog up in the main menu. I didn't see this behavior

I saw this as well. Early in the game I saw him running around and later I built up a little group and decided I would try and hunt him down so headed to the area which was in fog of war. Was astonished when the battle happened even though he was not visible (I was on the cloth map though unlike the poster) and he wiped the floor with me. He is meaner than his battle rating btw, not that I really understand what that means yet.

I just have lots of suggestions so I collected them here instead of making lots of little posts. These are just my current suggestions based on a little play, will have more once I really start understanding the game as a whole. Show the path for the current unit selected. Also having an indication of how far it can move each turn would be good (i.e. like Total War series on campaign map or HOMM). Have automoves happen at the beginning of the turn instead of the en

Many have proposed a tech tree but I don't want to know what's coming far in the future. Part of the fun is discovering all the techs, having them all laid out takes away from that. I would rather just have the research description tell me what it opens in the immediate future (i.e. iron daggers has a section that says "Leads to iron shortswords"). Also like some others have mentioned I would like to lessen the dependancies to a degree. Maybe instead of iron daggers

After creating a city I think he should stay in the same spot instead of forcing a move. It doesn't make sense to me and you are potentially making us lose movement points. Also some sovereigns will want to stay in the city anyway for bonuses they provide. Just a little thing that's been bothering me for a while.

Although I like a lot of this research system I think some refinements are necessary as well. With so many tech, randomness, ever increasing costs and hidden requirements it is hard to make good decisions on what to build. In my first game in Beta 2 I started right next to a bee hive but after lots of civilization teching I never got the tech for it. Did I get unlucky? Did I need to research farming first? It's unclear. One suggestion is to have in the tech

I got this also after running a couple of hours. Task was at 1,721,960K. Settings were mainly the default but had auto zoom to town on for a while and upped the resolution and scroll speed.
This is addressed to pretty much everyone who is thinking along this line: How much "beta testing" were you part of for Spore? Or The Sims? Or Civilization IV? Or what have you? Don't assume because we have public betas that somehow those public betas are somehow representative of the full project. Every public beta (every. single. one) that I've done -- going back to 1993 with the OS/2 version of Galactic Civilizations has had this same thing go on.
Im worried about Deus Ex. No gameplay yet but then E3 is around the corner so all I can do is hope.
Yeah, I'm worried about this one too. I read a small article about this in PCGamer and it sounds like they are watering down some areas. I was really excited about it but now it's just wait and hope I'm wrong about it.

Those are good suggestions but what about an Ultima game? From his numerous screenshots of these games he seems to be a big fan and I really miss that series (3-7 anyway). Someone really needs to start that series up again.

Fallout 1 and 2 were both great games. Fallout 3 = ok game that shouldn't have been called Fallout 3. Maybe Fallout: A New Beginning or something. I don't hate the game but it was pretty repetitive after a while and was worse in many, many ways. Really it was only better graphically. Can't think of anything else about it that was superior. Very sad, especially hearing how everyone (outside of this post anyway) raves about it. Hoping Fallout: New Vegas

Actually makes me sad. I'd much rather see a real RPG and not more of these lite action RPG's. Dungeon Siege wasn't even one of the better ones. I got bored half-way through the first one and never looked back. Both of these companies are capable of much more than what the previous Dungeon Siege's brought to the table. Wish they wouldn't waste their efforts on this.
The long, hard, scary time consuming feature is the AI. It’s the one feature that could delay the game beyond August 24th.
Personally less than 3 months from now seems way to soon. Maybe you guys can get the game done by then but what about testing, polish and balance. There are huge things that are barely in the game or completely non-existant (tactical combat and magic) that can have huge impacts. I have no experience with this so hopefull

I'm just curious what peoples impressions are of this game? I've only seem a handful of comments and they seem pretty mixed. I have the game but I just started playing it so I don't have much to base an opinion on. Other than a few minor issues (hate hacking for instance) though I am enjoying it so far.
