In general I find these boards to be fairly polite for an internet gaming board, especially given I don't see much sign of moderation. But it's the internet so there will always be people who are rude or insulting.
I agree the Stardock forums are better than most. It's one of the few message boards I can stand to post in or to read on a regular basis.

Don't think anyone is arguing that a more streamlined version is a bad idea in and of itself, only that it should be optional.
[e digicons]k1[/e] Maxlongstreet, couldn't have articulated it better.
I still play Shadow Magic with my friends, in fact we have a Shadow Magic session scheduled tonight. We play with the community patch and Dwiggs content mod. The AI is truly horrible though, as others have mentioned, but then again I find all TBS's to have horrible AI, though GalCiv2 was palatable. I also thought the number of useful spells wasn't extremely high, but at least they were diverse. I am trying to convert my Shadow Magic group to an Elemental group so I t
That's a lot of achievement points. I'm a traitor to the Zerg race. I have always played Zerg, including 100 or so ladder games during the beta, but I switched to Terran about half my retail ladder games ago.
Added all of you that are on the North American server.... I think.
Maccilia, I never played StarCraft 1 multiplayer and am currently in the bronze division (10 wins, 20 losses give or take), if you're willing to help me out and tell me what I'm doing wrong I'd appreciate it. - Othello
What's your in-game name and character code Othello?
Quoting Sareln, reply 32Sareln CC: 153 Still busy whoring campaign achievements, but managed to pass all the challenges and play with friends from time to time. They're mostly at Gold, but we all went to school with this guy, so that probably pushed us up from Silver . Haha, Day9 Dailies are fun
Day9 is great. So is Trump! Oh and like Sareln I have been busy with the campaign.&
Also, a LOT of things make things very unfair to the point we've had to take them out of multiplayer until we have time to implement more multiplayer specific stuff (for instance, quests are ridiculously unfair in MP because if you get a quest that gives you a +3 sword early, all the skill in the world won't make up for that). What I'm inclined to do is have the multiplayer version of Elemental split off from the single player. &nb
Terran isn't any more overpowered than anything else. Everyone is just playing it because it's the campaign race and all the new people are most familiar with it (and by extension, suck with Protoss and Zerg). As for the placement, it's skewed because of so many new players (SC2 sold 1.5 milllion copies in 48 hours). I haven't actually done my qualifiers yet (will this weekend) because I'm waiting for the ladders to stabilize at least a little bi

How it gets formed or what the name is doesn't matter too much to me, I just want to have a group of people to play with outside the ladder. However I don't think we need the race in
I'm on US too. I'm always happy to find people to play with outside of the ladder, but I'm not particularly good. Was low platinum during the beta.
Killz brings up a good point, which battle.net region do you play on?
As a complete guess I would say on par with Civ 4.
3D Map. Though, due to the overall crumminess of the UI/HUD, I often zoom out to the cloth map to discern details.
Good post, many things here I agree with, particularly your thoughts on housing, city building, tech trees, city upgrades, and that the game could be spiced up a bit with adventure on the high seas and more excitement occurring at "out of town locations," as you put it.
As kryo says, it's a full screen window. It's common feature in many modern games, it's very useful.
I don't see why it is needed since you have an icon report that appears on the right on the screen and the city icon in the left is bright when the queue is empty.
I've played dozens of games in the beta and those indicators still don't catch my eye, my cities will go many turns idling because I forgot to check on them. Perhaps if the icon report that appeared on the right flickered faintly when a city finished its build
I recruited Janusk, who had a respectable attack, and brought him along during a tactical battle, but he can't seem to move or attack. In fact, if he is the only unit on my side the game will never give me a turn during tactical battle.
Right after my bear attacked during a tactical battle the game crashed. debugg.err
Given the sheer amount of $$$ being spent on multiplayer, it's safe to say that we're taking it seriously. However, what I am not in favor of is simply taking the single player stuff and making it MP. I'd rather add more modes later like a dedicated Arena mode and such.
Couldn't you do both though? There are people out there that are going to want to play the game exactly how it works in single pla
A: Elemental has multiplayer. To ensure that it is robust, we basically threw money at the problem (i.e. set up servers around the world to just host the game) rather than monkey around with trying to get players to connect with one another. However, Elemental IS a single player game that happens to have multiplayer. Out of the box, Elemental’s multiplayer will be essentially skirmish on fixed maps that have been pre-balanced (i.e. not randomly generated). <br
Yes, I thought windowed-fullscreen was a feature, not a bug. Definitely makes my life much easier, so I hope you don't "fix" it.
Beta 3-B will be the last “game” beta. After that, we’ll close up and start focusing on polishing and focusing on bug testing for the retail CD version of the game as well as making available Beta 4 which will be an off-shoot build to let early modders see what we have in store so that they can get started early.
What does it mean that Beta 4 will be an off-shoot build as compared to a "game" beta?
I thought egalitarian wasn't just cosmetic flair? I thought it had a practical function in that it gave you double the recruitment pool.
