So no road building at all until caravans are implemented?

I've been following a lot of casted game replays on youtube, but what does the beta include? Is it just multiplay and skirmish vs AI? I was assuming that it doesn't include the campaign, and that being the case I'd probably just wait until it came out, or wait until the price drops a little. However it is tempting. Giving beta access to those who preorder is a very good incentive for me. (And no I haven't gotten any beta access keys though I have tried.)
Here is the dev journal thread on this topic: https://forums.elementalgame.com/377297
Coming out with a sequel every 12 months might not be a good thing, but I'm not going to blame people for being irritated because they've waited 12 years (Starcraft).
I'm really not very surprised. I for one actually had less stability between z1 and z2.
I have the same problem. I can save, exit, and reload the game, but it will occur again in a few turns. debug.err I do not have any caravans in my game, I only control one city.

What I don't understand is if people want to play a rushed version of the game, why not just pre-order and get into one of the betas? Sure right now they are pretty raw, but I imagine by August/September the betas will start to resemble a feature complete game.
I enjoyed both Age of Wonders 2 and Civ4s simultaneous turn system. However in both games it was optional, you could choose whether you wanted to play sequentially or simultaneously. Couldn't Elemental do the same? Implement both? (Edit: I missed Frogboy's comment on page 3 that the game will support both.) I also hope turns limited by time is optional. The one thing that did irk me about AoW2 was how tactical battles were handled in multiplayer. I thought the pacing
Unless consoles start making more use out of a keyboard and mouse there are going to be a lot of games which will never work well on the console platform. I have no allegiance to any one platform for playing video games, the only thing that is important to me is that I can play the games I want. Unfortunately, consoles simply can't accommodate all the types of games I enjoy.
Same thing. Started new game in .262, saved it, and next time I ran Elemental it would crash when I tried to load the game. debug.err: http://pastebin.com/m71d9236a
It's a fun game, especially at first. Once you get high level in perks, and once the premier locations on the map become second nature to you, the game can get extremely easy and repetitive. The most fun I had was playing on Suicidal with a team of people who were all about level 4, the level of challenge was perfect It's kind of fun to level up the perks though, just recently got all my perks to level 6. I happen to run a dedicated server (along with L4D1 and L4D2)
thats what I was wondering too ... hopefully a "bot" is separate from a normal AI, in that its a lurker of the server lobby as opposed to an actor added to the game by the game "host." In that case, it would probably only be necessary if a nation in Elemental could not easily switch between AI control and human control, but rather a separate "bot" function would have to control AI's you might think a human would join as at a later date. <br
I agree entirely with the original poster. After a while I found the ship designer in galciv2 to be more tedious than fun.
Oh the beta will be fine. Just submit debugs for every problem you run into and give tons of feedback... So we can get tons of features and the sooner we will get eye candy.
I've got a bug to report already! Time seems to be getting slower and slower as the day of the beta release approaches. I have found the only real workaround is work, school, and sleep. If anyone else has experienced this proble
I am a bit late; is it still possible to pre-order/buy/register the game and participate in beta? or it's too late now?
What I've heard is that as long as you order it prior to the beta being released you should definitely get access to the beta. I think one can even order it up to a week after the beta is released and still have access to it. I'm not as certain about that though.
Since I was going to buy the game when it came out anyway, I saw no reason in not preordering it and taking a look at the beta. For that reason, I guess it won't be a big deal to me if the beta isn't fun. I didn't preorder the beta just to get a pre-release version of the game. However I do hope it will be fun, or perhaps interesting, enough for me to have a desire to toy around with it. Though either way I won't be too upset. If nothing else, the beta will giv
GalCiv2 seems to be the gold standard amongst empire building games. That said, it's still pretty awful compared to a human. From what people tell me, the technology to implement 'human-like' opponents in modern computer games just isn't there yet. It's the one thing that keeps single-player-only RTS/TBS games from being able to hold my attention for more than a few weeks. This is why I'm so excited about Elemental, I can finally play with my friends and family!
