I'll have to check it out. BTW, since my earlier comment I went ahead fixed the flat land look:
Frogboy
Thanks guys. I'll see about getting something set up shortly.
BTW, forgot about Memorial Day so I won't get to do the next 3 hours (I did 1 hour already) until Wednesday.
Super excited to see this list. Those ALL look like great and well needed upgrades. Any chance we could see something like Heavenfall's needed unitstats (think that is correct term/name, on iPad now, so going from memory, if I was on a PC I'd look it up) added permanently?
I'm not familiar with that mod. Could you let me know more detail on that?
Would definitely be interested, but $20 honestly seems kind of cheap. Why the low price point? Also, will there be supply chain mechanics (eg. i mine iron, which is taken to a city, smelted, which my blacksmith turns into a sword)? I believe this was considered for the original Elemental and was scrapped, but this format might work better for it.
Final price hasn't been decided but s
Before I tell them to set this up I wanted to make a post and gauge interest in this: There's going to be a new fantasy strategy game from Stardock in the Elemental universe. It's NOT a sequel to Fallen Enchantress. I'm looking to ask the team to set up a founder's program for people who are interested in getting a sneak peak at what we're doing and getting early access to it this Fall. The founder's edition would be $20. Here is, broadly
- The lack of hard choices with the civilization aspect of the game. Reduce the amount of room I have or force me to make other difficult and unique choices. See Warlock 2 for *some* inspiration. Maybe even Endless Legend, it looks like.
I'd like more info on this please.
We have something really cool in the works. For those of you in the GalCiv III founders program, what are your favorite aspects of it? What would you like more of?
I spent all day playing this game MP: I don't want people who are going to sweat graphics on a game that won't be out for 2 years playing this. Most addictive game I've played since I was in college (final game won't even remotely resemble this so this isn't even giving anything
I read through this from a non-fanboy perspective, and these are some thoughts that went through my mind. Might want to re-word/clarify a few things before releasing it to Steam and elsewhere. So, only people who are willing/able to pay $100 for a game are the only ones committed to the game's concept?
Total strawman. There are people who can't afford to pay $100 who are hard core. But anyone p
Why must we be facing other strictly defined factions in a 4X? Why not just make it so that the player is up against the "world"; something varied and not so easily defined. Why can't we just have our leader/faction simply struggling to survive against what the world throws at them, with minor factions thrown in that act and operate in their own way ie not like the player with research and so on. Players like to
Blasphemy!
I want to follow up with some more thoughts on this thread. Players like you are a big reason I make games. The GAME is less interesting to me than the communities around the games so posts like this are what it's all about in terms of making it possible to make a better game. In no particular order: The monsters SHOULD have loot tied to them . Often they don't however and as a result you end up with crappy loot. This is somethi
For what it's worth, we are reading these posts. They are very helpful. From a game development point of view, a lot of it comes down to the classic: [ scope / reasonable budget / quality ] balance (you can have 2). In eWOM we picked scope and reasonable budget. In LH we picked reasonable budget and quality. One of my biggest regrets was not pushing back (and in fact letting my own disappointment with the bugginess of WOM affect my own att
Quoting Frogboy, reply 130To put things in perspective, the WOM team was 6 people. Total. very cool
Well not for WOM it wasn't. ;) That game will haunt me forever.
So here are some results from this discussion (all subject to change so that if conditions change I'm not held to any of this ) Leader's Pack DLC (previously referred to as Spouses Pack) release date is ~April 24th LH 1.7 likely in June, some AI tweaks, pathfinding, eye candy fixes, diplomacy tweaks Expanded Worlds DLC (new map stamps and new tactical battle maps) target date is ~June LH 2.0 likely next Fall, widespread changes to
Very cool stuff. Taking notes for future updates.
They have LH 1.6 in QA presently. Just waiting for their ok. As for Warlock / AOW (both games I like) if you are thinking LH is the same as those, then it was never the game for you. LH is a civ building game in a fantasy world.
On the whole, let's not forget that this game has just been released. A fairer comparison would be to Elemental - War of Magic, not the current Legendary Heroes, which many people seem to be doing. They've said on their forums that they are going to be releasing expansions and updates too, so we'll wait and see how that goes. Considering that this game is just released, it's not in a bad state at all - balance needs a b
Oh I'll still use it!
This sounds quite a bit like Eador. Is that an inspiration (it's a good one if it is)?
No. I still want my MOM2. The big problem with a MOM game though is that the fun I had with MOM back in the day was because the AI sucked and no one cared if it played well. You couldn't get away with taht today so I've played around with the idea of asymetric design where what I want and what
Yea, these are two of my favorite companies out there.
One more sneak peek at what might best be referred to as Elemental 2015 Gameplay unrelated to LH (not a sequel). LH would continue forward on its own dev path. So you'd have: War of Magic (which failed) Could build cities anywhere
Very excited!
I also blame the people who think and say it's okay to cheat on taxes, because the attitude is soon espoused by the wider community, thus giving corporations and government a defacto mandate to continue being dishonest and deceitful.
How are they "cheating" on their taxes? They're following the laws as written. Are you cheating on your taxes if you claim exemptions? If you don't like the
