Well, interesting bug to report with 1.29frog. Factions I haven't met yet can contact me to trade but I can't contact them.
There's a bug in my build regarding this. You do have relations but the the first contact message isn't working as designed (I moved it into a thread and it's being wonky).
So you could define rules in the XML like, for example, if the city has significant unrest, put Bell Tower or Cleric at the head of the build queue. There's less priority to have those lumber mills if half of production is being wasted.
You could but the code would have to be interpreted in the game itself. That's why I like the idea of having Python (or Lua) in there. But you totally get what I'm
Depends on the game. In Galactic Civilizations II, I had the AI "play" a few virtual turns into the future where it had the human player controlled by the AI. Then, based on what it predicted, it "reacted" to that and effectively pre-planned. It was a ton of effort though, not something I really want to do again given that I'm not sure most users even noticed the quality difference (except maybe the really good players).
I want to create a new Meeting agenda which I do by using a previous meeting agenda file (a Word doc). In Windows 7: I click on the Start menu, type Meeting Agenda and it instantly finds all my meetings. I can mouse over the files and it'll tell me the creation date. In Windows 8: I open the Charms bar, hit search, type Meeting Agenda, then have to select the files search results (Metro arbitrarily splits sea

AI does build lumber yards though. The issue isn't whether it will or won't build a particular type of building. It's a question of intelilgently priortizing it for a given city better than it currently does. Whether it's a workshop or a study, the AI only has very general concepts of when to build them. There are two ways to solve that. The first way would be to put "AI logic" into the XML via a scripting language of some kind OR you p

Yea, the story of War of Magic would make a tacky soap opera. I'm still having to deal with the crap from that year.

Some people were reporting corrupted saves and other problems with v1.20. Others have complained about AI and performance. So here's the build I made this weekend called v1.29frog. It's from my machine. It's not official but you can complain about stuff here in this post. Update! https://dl.dropbox.com/u/8051911/FE-129toad.zip Specifically, I am looking to
I don't mind giving up screen space if there's a trade off. But there isn't. It's just bigger. I don't get the idea that it's somehow easier to sift through the start screen rather than go through all programs in the event that the thing you want isn't in the most commonly run programs (which, incidentally, the new Start Screen has no equivalent to).
Win8 is faster (considerably so) on older hardware (I've tested that extensively) and while that might not matter to those who can just purchase new hardware, there are those who might still be running machines like my 2005 notebook and although my notebook initially shipped with XP was then upgraded to Vista Business, Win7 Pro and now Win8 Pro it is Win8 that runs the most efficiently and smoothly. Surface RT is better. Love mine.

I've seen some reports on this. Does it happen when you do a quicksave or is it only with autosaves?
If that is correct and the AI isn't building lumber yard line of improvements because of the AI tag, then get someone to fix the xml... it's like a 5 min job, comon mate sort out those little things first
This sort of thing is why game developers don't hang out in forums. ;) A 5 minute job? I look forward to your game. It should only take you 10 minutes then. (I'm just teasing you, don't mind m
What I'd like to see more from expert players are suggestions on the strategic AI. I hear how "easy" it is but every time we get a saved game from a player it ends up they were doing something super cheesy that has nothing to do with AI (usually champion abuse or endless eating to heal in tactical). The AI views the world in terms of what it knows and organizes its strategy in terms of units, armies and army groups. There are a lot of things I can do to improve it. But
I have a hard time understanding how Windows 8 offers any advantages to a desktop user over Windows 7. Booting up faster seems like a non-issue (how often are using cold booting their machines) Someone mentioned RT for game development. No, it is weak for that too. You have to develop your game using an extreme subset of capabilities that you'd have with a normal PC game. They could have made RT games conform to XBOX rules or something but they didn't.
I've sent a note to the team about this.
So let's say you are talking a build order here, because I'm guessing that's what you want to hardcode (and tech order and hero trait order as well). At least you could put those in their own object types so we can make our own for factions/champs that differ significantly.
That would require XML work, reading in, etc. That's not my area of coding and that person is currently working on a different game.</p
