Lot of path finding work got pushed into the v1.2 build insteaad of waiting for 1.3.

The upcoming expansion pack will be free to those who bought War of Magic before October 31, 2010. It won't be as big of a change as FE was to WOM but it's pretty significant. I think the best way to describe it will be a tightening of the game mechanics so that they are more related to one another. You're going on quests to help your civilization. You're champions are a reflection of your civilization and vice versa.
Just curious, I'm wondering if the FE dev team has not already moved to another project. Except Brad and Derek that is.
Thankfully no! While the AI is worked on by me, the other things that get updated are done by others. Most of the FE team is working on a follow-on to FE (the expansion) but as they find bugs and such they do backport them.
The mouse cursor not highlighting the correct tile is very high on my list. I haven't seen this so I am thinking it might be configuration specific. I want to emphasize, does this happen even with the HW mouse cursor on?
They'll be coming back. But there's some announcements that have to be made first.
I've never seen that issue (mouse pointer line up) Could you describe how you have your video resolution for the game set up? Do you play in a window, do you have the taskbar at the bottom of the screen? I'm wondering if there is some setup that would cause that. What happens if you turn on the hardware mouse cursor?
There are some great posts here. Thank you very much! I am very surprised at how many are feature requests. There are threads in which people state, as if it's a fact, that FE is "gane breakingly buggy" and so I was kind of hoping this thread would list some of these bugs since we don't find FE to be buggy. Remember, this isn't a feature request thread, it's a glitch fix thread. Things that you find frustrating (like path finding that takes a unit through

If I am next to a river, and want to go to a tile that is just across the river, most of the time the pathfinder will take me around the whole river. 3) The fact that lots of really strong enemies have Sweep and don't use it in combat (dragon
With v1.2 just about ready to go out, it's time to think about v1.3. Before people start making feature requests, I would like to emphasize what I'd like v1.3 to be about: Playability glitches. A playability glitch is hard to really classify. It's not a crash. It's some feature that doesn't work as you'd expect or as you would assume was intended. And if you play a game for hundreds of hours, they become maddening. So what I would like to use th
" At the time, we thought we had a real blockbuster on our hands. Our primary competition were the guys doing League of Legends, and the advance press was that we had the more interesting product. Ha! Now those guys own the universe, and nobody’s even heard of Demigod. In the end, our game was hobbled by the publisher, who insisted on handling the networking code on their end, but didn’t have either the time or the manpower to do it right. They ended up just shipping i
Yea, I'm still working full time +. But there's a big difference between 80 hours (normal) week and a 50 hour normal week. ;) Last year I got down to 40 hours as a normal week.

I think bravery would involve decision making. I simply reacted. My dog was going to die if I didn't do anything. Not to mention, I

For FE, I like a lot of these ideas. In the upcoming expansion, the "Faction prestige" thing is going away. Instead, city growth will depend entirely on available food and unrest. The more cities you have, the more unrest you get.
Clever AI's are awesome. I loved the BetterAI project on Civ4, if you can get anything remotely similar to that, we will love you Also, it could be helpful if you said what to look out for regarding feedback. Most of us is stupid regarding AI code after all ^^
My dream would be for the AI to be a separate DLL so I could hand out source code and other people could make their own AI.
Quoting Frogboy, reply 39+ Fixed but that caused AI to disproportionately choose the first level up perk (like Assassin) Does this mean they will choose a random trait at level up, or will the AI pseudo-intelligently choose a trait based on certain conditions?
It's not super intelligent about it. I weight the choice based on the unit's equipment and stats.
Short answer: NEVER release a game in October unless you're Activision or Electronic Arts. Also, for reasons I cannot explain, European publications tend to have a lot more metacritic validated sites. A lot of our reviews have come from sites that aren't listed on Metacritic. I don't think there's any bias, I think that European game magazines do a better job on making sure they get listed.
Level 2 city might be an interesting way to do it. It might require code (the money req. doesn't cost anything). Speaking of the "wealthy" attribute. I tend to think it's too powerful. It seems like getting 200 more gilldar to start with would e a huge early boon. I hope people really *really* notice the AI improvements. For me, writing AI is a real passion. I've been doing it for over 20 years. FE (like WOM) doesn't lend itself to good AI sin

I don't think the Civ model would work for Pioneers because going up in population in FE i

Stuck heroes as described in some of the above posts. Worst instance of this I saw was the enemy's sovereign stuck adjacent to one of its cities as I approached. It would have been a tough, interesting battle if the sovereign had defended the city. 2. Enemy units rem
