I was thinking something a bit more like this: Left: (Actions tab would go away, training and building would only show up if things are queued). Right: <img src="http://content.screencast.com/users/draginol/folders/Jing/media/d309d4b5-7320-42e5-9b4d-ec51830239

I like where you're going Spitz with that idea. With regard to the at risk tiles, the issue I see there is that it could get very VERY frustrating for new users to find their cities destroyed by bandits and such. The challenge with having some other penalty for growing the city is that you would need to really communicate the penalty to the player, provide a rationale for it that the user can buy into, and have it be fun. Having the tiles add maintainence is les
I have the same as marlowwe. It won't make much different in loading time. The main load time in Elemental is the game parsing all those XML files (the people want modding, that's the price ). There's dozens of megabytes of XML the game has to go through.

I'm a bit put-off from testing 3c since I'm not sure how much of the feedback I'd provide would be useful at this point and how much of it would simply be: "You're worried about that? We completely revamped that two days ago!"
I'm expecting a week from today. Yea, Beta 3C is a distant memory at this point for us. We've gotten a ton of great feedback from t
Great post! Here's some feedback on those points. This post is exactly why we have the public betas. 1) Re Houses. The higher level settlements are the only ones that can build the more powerful improvements. Food is a scarce resource, therefore, players need a way to determine which of their cities they want to specialize in a particular area. In the beta, there just aren't enough high level improvements in to make it worth the pay off.
I'm still confused. Will people who review your game review the RTM version or your Day 0 version?
Traditionally they review the release version (day 0). Though, the RTM build will be fine as well but obviously, the newer ones will be better.
Just wanted to say that this is a very helpful thread.
My issues with GalCiv are well known so I won't go into it other than to say that I'd love the opportunity to go back to the drawing board. With GalCiv II, I felt pretty married to some pretty awful game mechanics because people threw a fit whenever we tried to change them. I think Elemental will allow us to explore some really interesting game mechanics and to be frank, if we (us and the community) don't like an Elemental game mechanic, it's subject to change. For example, I'
To be honest, I don't even look at video cards much anymore. 64-bit is the way to go on the OS and an SSD. :)

I am curious if the AI can and will pursue the Master Quest as well, and if it can, are the pieces of the Forge the AI is chasing after the same 5 pieces I am looking for? It would make for an interesting game with the AI, and perhaps later for Multiplayer as well...
It gets its own version of the quest.
Ok. With Diplomacy- why would the player want Diplomatic Capital in return for giving up resources? If you can bribe the AI with Diplomatic Capital, there needs to be a reason for the player to offer something for Diplomatic Capital from the AI, and the AI needs to offer such trades. Maybe Diplomatic Capital should be spendable to get minor civs to join your empire peacefully, and the AI should do this also.<

Things might be bad if they don't update And magic / adventuring are a bit... well overpowered? You can rush them and your enemies will never know (though they will know that you're conquering all their cities if you chose conquest) And diplomatic capital still confuses me as to what
Does this mean the digital download version is going to be more up to date than the box version on the other side of the actual release version. Reason I ask is I ordered both and I was not sure if I should wipe my files and install from the disk or just hold that in reserve in case of catastrophic hardware failure. I really want to have the most feature rich version of the game I can get.
Always use the digital version if

It's not GalCiv 2 music.
Nothing's stopping you from doing it now. http://www.desktopx.net.
Some of the early seed maps have hard coded starting positions. We're slowly weeding them out.

Starcraft sucks. You have to mine resources to get stuff. You should just get stuff...
:) I wish we could get together but we're hard at work on the game. Thanks for the offer!
This is pretty obnoxious. If you feel the game is being rushed (just like people thought GalCiv was rushed and Sins was rushed and so on) then feel free to wait until February to play it.
