Basically, there is some kind of glitch with the ranged attacks. I've seen this before with mage units and it's currently annoying the crap out of me with the Panaca Archers. With the ranged unit active, I right click on a valid target and nothing happens. There is no attack animation, but the game doesn't lock up. I can still scroll around the screen and move the cursor but I can't click to select another target (the cursor changes to the one with the red X). After about 10-15 seconds, the ranged attack hits the target but without any attack or projectile animation though there are damage, death and dodge animations for the unit hit. The glitch doesn't happen all the time. I've tried to figure out what causes it but it seems random. In some short battles the archers may fire twice without any problems, but in prolonged encounters I've had this glitch happen on three successive turns for my archers.
I don't mind the lack of animation, but the 10-15s delay is a real pain. It breaks the flow of the battle and is really turning me off of ranged units. Recently I've started skipping my archers turn when their intervention is not in dire need.
Anybody else experience something similar?
I'm playing with a number of mods but none have anything to do ranged units or tactical combat (snaking, river bridge, champion bonanza, black market bazaar, xtra tax rates, and +init staves). I also experienced this bug in v1.4 when I ran the game unmodded.
