I had a battle with a Bone ogre's army were I lost a unit but wiped out the enemy camp. A couple of turns later I exit the game then return (load back in) to it later. The Bone ogre's army was back where I had defeated it originally, but the unit I had lost to them was still lost.
The saved game must not have recorded the condition of the ogre's camp, or something like that.
