[.981] Mites vs. Darklings

So I fought some mites with 21 hit points (turn 2). That is 3 of them in a group so 7 hitpoints a peice.

But I fought darklings shortly afterward and they had 3 hit points. The warrior had 5...

My question is who should be more powerful? Darklings or Mites? Checking the core_monsterunittypes.xml I noticed that mites do not have <unitstat_hitpoint>
