[0.77] I've found lots of loot, but still haven't found any bows

You can equip a custom sovereign with a bow, although it takes an attribute point to do so.

AS for magic bows, I don't think I have ever found them, and I think I have only found one magic wizards robe.

I've not seen any bows as loot either, unless you count the crude shortbow that one of the Empire champs got stuck with.

Found a couple of robes of Adept/Mage/Archmage.

Never found a bow or staff I didn't take off the body of an unrecruited champion.
