Is there any setting in the gameplay options that allows you to scroll at the edge of the main map? I find it affects my gameplaying experience not being able to move my map view seamlessly but instead having to zoom in/out or access the mini map. I have 2 copies of the game running on different systems and neither one allows me to map scroll like in any of the Total War games as an example. Thanks in advance.
Left click. Drag. Much more efficient than side scrolling.
You are probably playing an outdated version, as edge scrolling has been implemented recently. You might want to read this post for new beta testers:

Current version as of today is 0.77
Edge scrolling is an option in 0.77. Check that you have it enabled.
I also set the scrolling delay to zero. Works better for me.
